Alicia Keys Leads American Music Award Nominations

Award-winning singer might want to clear off some space on her mantel: She was nominated Tuesday morning for five American Music Awards, the most for any artist this year.

Coming in second to Keys are the British quartet Coldplay and veteran rockers the Eagles, with four apiece. Next in line, with three nods each, are rap superstar Lil Wayne and R%26B hit-maker . All five acts are competing for the highest honor: Artist of the Year.

The show will air live on Nov. 23 from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, with Jimmy Kimmel once more emceeing.

Kimmel announced the lucky crop of contenders alongside dancer-chanteuse Julianne Hough and pop star Jesse McCartney.

The show will also feature a star-studded list of performers including the , , , Ne-Yo, Pink, the Pussycat Dolls and the reunited New Kids on the Block.

Kimmel, however, said unscripted moments are often the most entertaining, like last year when Joe Jonas slipped during his group’s performance.

“You know what, it always makes it more interesting if somebody trips and falls,” says the comic. “So I don’t know, maybe it will be me. Who knows? We’re going to push somebody off the stage this year.”

It isn’t everyday that R%26B soul singer teams up with rock and roll Racounteurs frontman Jack White. But they’ve done just that - all in the name of Bond.

James Bond.

The duo has premiered the video for the theme to the new Bond movie, Quantum of Solace. “Another Way to Die,” written by White, features Keys on piano, White on guitar, and both artists strutting through a computer-generated desert in fashions fit for espionage.

White, 33, and Keys, 28 announced their collaboration - the first duet in Bond history - in July. The song - which will play over the movie’s opening credits - hit the airwaves on Sept. 18.

Quantum of Solace, starring Daniel Craig, hits theatres Nov. 14.

is smokin’ hot - but there’s no place for cigarettes in her concerts.

The Grammy-winner requested Philip Morris stop promoting her show in the Indonesian capital of Jakarta, where she’s scheduled to play Thursday.

The tobacco company had been co-sponsoring the gig, but Keyes stubbed out their involvement Wednesday.

“I am an unyielding advocate for the well-being of children around the world and do not condone or endorse smoking,” the performer said in a statement released by her record company, Sony BMG Music Entertainment, the Associated Press reports.

The American corporation did not state how much it paid for its involvement in the event - and remains mute on whether it will demand its money back.

Keys has just finished recording the new James Bond theme song, a duet with the White Stripes’ Jack White.

Alicia Keys Excited to Present Annie Lennox raised nearly $700,000 hosting Thursday’s night’s first U.K. “Black Ball,” a star-packed London fund-raiser to benefit children with AIDS in Africa.

“Our main goal is that for %26#91;one dollar%26#93; a day we can provide the medicine and care to keep children alive,” said the R%26B singer, 28, a co-founder of the Keep A Child Alive foundation.

Keys, who’s touring Europe this summer, walked the red carpet with her brother Cole, and told reporters: “I’m definitely excited about bringing the one and only Annie Lennox on stage with me. It’s going to be an exclusive, inspirational night.”

As Blake told PEOPLE of Keys’s involvement, “She is stronger than I am. She e-mails me every single day, she is incredible.”

Says , 26, who costars with Keys in the upcoming The Secret Life of Bees, “I call Alicia my mentor.”

Keys hosted the later part of the event in jeans and a Barack Obama T-shirt as she introduced performers.

Lennox received a standing ovation when she did the evening’s finale of “Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)” and REM’s “Everybody Hurts” with Keys joining in on piano.

Guests included and Kelly Rowland, who, after dancing up a storm, told PEOPLE the night was “perfect. A moment of true greatness.”

West came out a double winner, snagging awards for both best male hip hop artist and best collaboration for his single “Good Life,” sharing the award with rapper-producer T-Pain.

Brown took home the best male R%26B artist award at the star-studded event, hosted by D.L. Hughley, which boasted an opening performance of “Love In This Club” by .

Brown enlisted the help of Ciara for his “Take You Down” performance, while the crooner’s girlfriend entertained the audience with her ballad “Take a Bow.”

Keys snagged the best female R%26B artist award, telling reporters her onstage collaboration “was very exciting for me to combine all of the people I admire.”

Other winners included Missy Elliott (best female hip hop artist), (best actress), and (best actor).

Jill Scott, Anthony Hamilton and Maxwell paid a musical tribute to Al Green who received the legendary lifetime lward. Actress presented Quincy Jones with the humanitarian award.

has motherhood on her mind.

“I think that %26#91;adoption%26#93; is truly important to consider,” the Grammy-winning singer, 28, told PEOPLE Thursday night at a Manhattan screening of the documentary We Are Together, about the children of Agape Orphanage in South Africa.

Although she’s “not ready to be a mom” just yet, Keys - who co-founded the foundation Keep A Child Alive, promoting HIV/AIDS-awareness and which helps support Agape - says adoption is a future possibility once she’s in the “mother stage” of her life.

“It’s beautiful the way that she embraces children of the world, and that’s the thing. We all are one. We’re not as separate as we often think,” Keys said.

We Are Together follows the story of 12-year-old Slindile, whose parents died of AIDS. The youngster and the other children of Agape find strength through singing in their choir.

“They are such a beautiful, beautiful group of children,” Keys told the audience before the screening. “They’ve been through so much. But they are so bright and resilient and hopeful.”

The Grammy-winning artist, who has openly discussed her battle with depression, now says she is opening up to the world.
