With a whimsical Winnie the Pooh theme, Ashlee Simpson-Wentz celebrated a baby shower with family and celebrity friends, including sister Jessica Simpson and pal Nicole Richie, who brought daughter Harlow.
“She was glowing and insanely happy,” says a source. Proud-dad-to-be Pete Wentz, 28, even stopped by the Saturday shower at the Hotel Bel Air. “He was so excited too!”
The guests, who also included Simpson-Wentz’s mother Tina and actress Emmy Rossum, dined on home-style food in keeping with the Simpson family’s Southern roots: chicken and mashed potatoes.
Simpson-Wentz, 24, received numerous presents including gift bags from Kitson Kids and a mini Burton snowboard outfit and matching gear.

Pete Wentz says wife Ashlee Simpson-Wentz is due to give birth any minute.
“She is very pregnant,” the Fall Out Boy bassist told Ryan Seacrest on Thursday. “I am on call permanently right now. She’s at the very end, and it could happen at any point.”
Wentz, who will attempt to break a world record for most radio interviews in 24 hours with band-mate Patrick Stump on Friday, adds that Simpson-Wentz, 24, is “excited” to become a mom.
“She (feels) hot all the time,” says Wentz, 29, joking that the couple’s thermostat is set to 34 degrees. “I think she wants to just be not pregnant anymore. … It’s a struggle to go up and down the stairs. Going out in public is insane.”
“I want to meet (the baby) first,” says Wentz, adding that he has a formula in place for when the time comes. “My friend said it - you’ve gotta have a baby with a name that could be a rock star or a senator, so he’ll get work either way.”

Pete Wentz is already facing his first daddy dilemma. As a Chicagoan, will his baby with wife Ashlee Simpson root for the Cubs or the White Sox?
“If my dad has anything to say about it, I’m sure he will be a Cubs fan.” the Windy City native told PEOPLE Sunday at the Nike + Human Race at Soldier Field in Chicago. “If my friends have anything to say about it, it will probably be a Sox fan. So, knowing me, it will probably come out a mathematician.”
The Fall Out Boy bassist has definitely been studious in his fact-finding mission about fatherhood. Besides reading books including The Expectant Father, Wentz, 29, said one famous friend in particular has been a wealth of information.
“Joel %26#91;Madden%26#93; gives me advice,” Wentz said of the Good Charlotte rocker, who’s dad to 7-month-old daughter Harlow with girlfriend Nicole Richie. “%26#91;It’s%26#93; been really awesome for me to go to another person my age.”
So, could the song end up on Simpson’s labor playlist? “That’s probably going to be all up to Ashlee - what she picks,” Wentz said. “I couldn’t be like, ‘Oh, you’re going through labor, here’s the music I want you to listen to.’ So, it’s whatever she picks.”
That may include his own vocals. Wentz said he sings to the baby “late at night …. Baby’s gotten a couple lullabies.”
In a recent posting on Simpson’s blog, she joked that while she’s pregnant, her “closet full of size 0’s are being worn by Pete right now and he looks hot in them.”
Ryan Cabrera rarely sees his former flame Ashlee Simpson these days, but he saw enough in their relationship that he doesn’t doubt her parenting ability.
“She’ll be a great mom,” the singer told PEOPLE Friday at the opening of Yellowtail Sushi Restaurant in Las Vegas.
Recently Simpson, 23, said she and husband Pete Wentz, 29, have been busy baby-proofing the house and getting a nursery together. None of this surprises Cabrera about the couple.
“It’s a good family. It will be a good home.”
In a recent posting on her blog, Simpson denied the Internet rumor that she cried and went shopping for size 0 jeans after her doctor told her she’d gained too much weight. “1. My doctor says I am right on target with my weight gain. 2. Have not been to Planet Blue in at least two years. 3. Love my maternity jeans … they have stretchy tops it is awesome!” the singer writes.
“Carrying a child is the most inspiring, emotional, amazing experience of my life,” Simpson continues. “My weight and my pant size are the absolute last thing I am concerned about. I am only concerned with having a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby. People who talk and judge pregnant women’s weight need to get a life!!!”
Having already admitted that he’s turning into his own father in anticipation of the arrival of his and wife Ashlee Simpson’s baby, Pete Wentz tells PEOPLE that when it comes to prepping to become a parent, “I’m reading a lot of books.”
The Fall Out Boy bassist, 28, at his Angels %26 King nightspot in Chicago with Ashlee nearby, explains, “The biggest one is The Expectant Father. It’s a really good one.”
Not that the printed page is teaching him all he needs to know. Jokingly, he adds, “Also, I’ve watched Look Who’s Talking and Look Who’s Talking Too. I’d be worried if the baby sounded like Bruce Willis.”
Having digested that, Wentz says, “I’m just going into taking it one step at a time, and I’m just excited to meet the baby.”
In terms of further preparations, “We’ll baby-proof the house,” he says, “getting the nursery ready.” Regarding its theme, “It’s not a secret, but it’s more of a private thing. I haven’t really figured it out yet, so I don’t want to go out there and say what it is and then have it not be that.”
Nor, when asked if the nursery is pink, will he divulge a color scheme. “Contrary to the stories out there, we don’t know the sex of the baby,” he says. “I’m a person that always likes to be surprised, so I like to wait for the surprise.”
In the meantime, he says, “Ashlee’s a trouper. She’s been really good with this. She’s probably one of the most health conscious, spiritually free pregnant women I’ve even been around.”
These days when he isn’t rocking out with Fall Out Boy, Pete Wentz can often be found speaking to his unborn child or reading books about fatherhood.
“I talk to it all the time,” he told PEOPLE Saturday at the Ultimate Fighting Championship 86 afterparty in Las Vegas. “The Expectant Father tells you that the woman, when she speaks, the baby hears her all the time. And the father’s voice isn’t familiar unless you talk to it, so I talk to it all the time.”
Armin Brott’s parenthood tome is just one of the books the bassist is reading to prepare himself for his and Ashlee Simpson-Wentz’s first child together.
And while Ashlee often has cravings for ice cream, pickles and green olives, everything is “going well,” says Wentz, who performed a two-hour DJ set at the House of Blues following the UFC match.
In fact, he is already hinting at more children in the future: “This is the first one so we’ll have to base the next one on how we do on the first one.”
Ashley Simpson-Wentz displayed her new mommy-to-be figure in a fitted black dress at the opening of husband Pete Wentz’s bar Angels %26 Kings in Chicago.
The party in Wentz’s hometown on Tuesday night doubled as another 29th birthday bash for the Fall Out Boy bassist, who also celebrated with a party at Foxtail in L.A. on his actual birthday, June 5.
Wentz and Wentz-Simpson, 23, arrived in an SUV around 7:30 p.m. and were greeted by his parents. Simpson-Wentz, in black high heels, posed for a few pictures with her husband before heading inside with her in-laws.
As for how his wife is handling her pregnancy, he admitted he doesn’t know if she has any cravings, but said he is working hard on catering to her needs: “Oh yeah, I do the whole nine %26#91;yards%26#93;, anything to keep her comfortable - massages, the works.”
Once inside, Wentz-Simpson told party-goers that she had put together a slideshow in honor of her husband’s birthday. “I thought you said you wouldn’t do anything embarrassing!” he said to her.
She responded sweetly, “I know, I’m sorry Peter.” The montage featured images of Wentz growing up, and ended with a video of the singer saying, “I love you, Peter” and blowing a kiss. Afterward, he was presented with a giant cake in the shape of a bulldog - the same breed as their beloved Hemingway, the ring bearer at their wedding.

in a Chicago tradition - deep dish pizza - during lunch with her
in-laws and husband Pete Wentz at the Windy City’s Gino’s

According to the manager, the couple looked “so adorable,” and the group was
laughing throughout lunch. Before leaving, the newlyweds indulged in another
tradition: They signed the restaurant’s wall.

Newlywed Pete Wentz is ready to embrace fatherhood for the first time.
In an interview with E! News on Tuesday night at the Op clothing launch party in Los Angeles, Wentz revealed he’s “excited to be a dad.”
“I’m genuinely a nervous person in general,” said Wentz.
But finding out he was expecting a child with wife Ashlee Simpson, whom he married in a fantasy wedding on May 17, was an exception.
“The first time I ever went to the doctor’s office and heard the (baby’s) heartbeat, I felt totally content and at peace with everything,” he said.
“While many have speculated about this, we wanted to wait until after the first trimester to officially confirm that we are expecting our first child,” the couple wrote. “This is truly the most joyous time in our lives and we are excited to share the happy news and start our family.”
The day after their wedding, Simpson-Wentz told PEOPLE, “I would love to have a big family one day.” Added her new husband: “A big soccer team or a band!”
• Ashlee Simpson-Wentz, having a quiet business dinner at Il Sole in West Hollywood. Greeted by fans on her way into the Italian eatery, the mom-to-be was “totally sweet and very gracious,” says a restaurant patron. “They were complimenting her music and Ashlee raved about Jessica’s country album.” On Ashlee’s plate? A hearty piece of filet mignon.
• Blake Lively and her Gossip Girl costar and off-screen beau Penn Badgely, shopping at eyewear designer Robert Marc’s store in New York’s Greenwich Village. “They were sort of hounded by paparazzi and a group of female fans so they had to retreat to the back room to get away from the commotion,” says a source. Lively bought a pair of frames but after browsing through the sunglasses selection, Badgely walked out of the store empty-handed.
• The couple’s Gossip Girl costar Chace Crawford, feasting on rigatoni bolognese and drinking pinot grigio wine at Fred Segal Mauro Café in West Hollywood with a male friend. Also dining separately: Sex and the City producer Michael Patrick King.
• Steve Carell, reading from a set of large navy notebooks at Hollywood pub Cat %26 Fiddle. The actor, dressed in a light-gray collared sweatshirt over a yellow T-shirt and jeans, sat alone and looked focused as he browsed through the books, which appeared to be scripts. After finishing his reading session, he sported sunglasses as he strolled out of the leafy patio.
• Nicole Richie and Mary-Kate Olsen, giggling and whispering to each other at L.A.’s Crown Bar. At one point, the pair - who sat at a table near the deejay booth - walked hand-in-hand across the dance floor and perched together in an unoccupied corner to continue their conversation. Meanwhile, Paris Hilton and beau Benji Madden hung out with Nicky Hilton and David Katzenberg. Later in the night they were joined by Audrina Patridge, who table-hopped around the bar. Also making the scene: Patridge’s Hills costars Lauren Conrad and Lauren ‘Lo’ Bosworth, as well as Jamie Foxx and Dave Navarro, who had his arm around a blonde female companion.
