Beneath the looming mausoleums of the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, David Arquette laid to rest any doubts about his nearly 8-year marriage to Courteney Cox.
“At every turn, it’s my job to be loving and honest to her,” Arquette told PEOPLE at Wednesday night’s premiere of his new movie, The Tripper. “If there’s one thing about our relationship, there are no surprises.”
Arquette, 35, who cowrote and directed the horror film, walked the red carpet hand in hand with Cox, 42, often whispering affectionately in her ear between interviews.
“Deep down inside they’re very similar,” Arquette’s sister, Medium star Patricia Arquette, said of the couple when asked what makes them work. “They’re both nice, kind people. They’re honest and genuine and balance each other.”
Added her husband, Thomas Jane: “They make things a family affair. That’s what we love.”
Cox currently plays tabloid editor Lucy Spiller on FX’s Dirt, which she and Arquette executive produced. They have one daughter, Coco, who turns 3 in June.
Arquette dismissed rumors of marital strife in an interview with an L.A. radio station Wednesday morning. “They’ll say what they’re gonna say and you just say ‘No, that’s not true,’ ” he said. “It’s all sort of fun anyway.”
