He’s been in L.A. less than two years. But is David Beckham already planning a return to Europe?
The British soccer star confirms that he does hope to move to Italy - for just a “few months!” - later this winter. Now that his Major League Soccer season has ended in the U.S., he’s hoping to spend time playing with AC Milan.
“The MLS season doesn’t run as long as the European season and having played most of my career in Europe, my body has been trained … not to have that amount of time off,” he wrote on his blog. “It also gives me the chance to keep my fitness up and carry that on for when I come back to the Galaxy for the new MLS season %26#91;next March%26#93;.”
“There’s already been plenty of talk that I’ve bought a house out there and that I’m buying a jet, none of which is true,” he insisted.
Beckham, who lives in Beverly Hills with his wife Victoria and their three sons, promised to keep fans in the loop as negotiations continue with Milan. He vowed, “I will let you know when it happens.”

Although he lives in Beverly Hills and watches movies at home with Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, the soccer-star-turned-model swears he has no plans to join them on the big screen.
Asked if he hopes to develop a film career, the fashion fan recently issued an emphatic denial. “What film career? I haven’t got one,” Beckham told the December issue of British GQ. “Never say never, except about that! And that’s the way it’s going to stay.”
Still, that doesn’t stop 33-year-old from mingling with famous friends like Cruise. “He came round for dinner a few weeks ago,” said Beckham. “But it’s the same with him. We just go round and watch a film. It’s not a big deal, it’s just popping round to watch a film or to mess around and play with the kids.”
“I respect any person’s religion. Everybody’s got their own ideas,” said Beckham. “And, of course, Tom is a big believer in Scientology, but he’s never pushed anything on to us about it and he never will do. Friends don’t do that.”
His L.A. Galaxy soccer team has failed to make the playoffs and will not take the field again until next March. During the lay-off, Beckham will reportedly play for Italy’s AC Milan. But, he insists, America is still his home.
“We’re happy here at the moment, that’s the biggest thing,” he explained. “When your family are happy, that’s all you can ask for.”

In a final shedding of her Posh Spice musical past, Victoria Beckham has written a heartfelt letter about her fashion dreams coming true - and how husband David inspires her new men’s line.
“This past year has been amazing, not only as a mother and wife but as the Creative Director of my label ‘dVb by Victoria Beckham,’ ” Victoria, 34, writes on her Web site. “In just under two years dVb has grown from a passionate idea into collections which are stocked in top stores around the world - something I only used to dream of.”
Fueling her dream - as her label leaps the gender gap - is her spouse. “The label grows as I do,” she writes. “Along with women’s denim the dVb mens collection has just launched, and who better than David to be my muse!”
Little Cruz Beckham can already breakdance with the best hip-hop dudes. Next up? Joining his brothers in a boyband.
That’s the prediction of the Jonas Brothers, who revealed Wednesday that they’ve befriended Victoria Beckham.
“The whole entire family’s amazing,” Kevin Jonas told GMTV during a promotional tour of the U.K. “We got the honor to meet them at the Teen Choice Awards.”
“We met the boys %26#91;Brooklyn, 9, Romeo, 6, Cruz, 3,%26#93; and took pictures with them,” the teen pop star continued. “Victoria said that the boys wanted to become the ‘Beckham Brothers.’ We were like, ‘Yes!’ ”
He’s already conquered Hollywood - so why not the stage?
A British dramatist is in talks to bring David Beckham’s life story - in musical form! - to London’s West End.
“His rise from obscurity to international stardom, his universally acknowledged gifts as a supreme sportsman, and his Hollywood lifestyle all have the elements of an aspirational fable,” librettist Mark Archer told the U.K.’s Daily Telegraph.
It would feature “powerful, gospel-like rock,” Archer said. And, of course, Beckham’s wife Victoria would make an appearance. Sample lyrics (upon meeting the Spice Girl):
A change has come around,
As I worship this ground,
With you in my life,
We’re turning the world upside down.
In real life, Beckham has soccer - not singing - on his mind. He’s preparing to play on England’s national team in their August 20 match against the Czech Republic.
David Beckham will star in the Aug. 24 closing ceremony of the Beijing Olympics, PEOPLE has confirmed.
“David is going to be in the surprise finale. They always have a segment to do the handover, to showcase the next city to host the Olympics,” a source tells PEOPLE.
When the Games end at Beijing’s National Stadium, the distinction of hosting the Summer Olympics transfers to London in 2012 - with the international soccer star there to help mark the transition.
But Beckham’s already sports-packed schedule won’t leave much time for a leisurely stay in China.
“If his %26#91;calendar%26#93; works out, he will be able to go from the L.A. Galaxy game to Beijing,” says the source. “It also depends on if he gets picked for the next England game, as he can go on from there.”
David Beckham and his wife, Victoria Beckham, may seem used to the being at the center of media attention, but the English soccer god says he always looks forward to escaping it all - on the soccer field.
“There is this madness around me, around my family,” Beckham tells Men’s Health in its issue out Aug. 12. “Without a doubt, out on the field is where I’m most comfortable, where I’m happiest, because I know what I’m doing, and I know I can do it.”
That drive to succeed at soccer came to Beckham at age 13, when
another player told him, “You’ll never play for England, because
you’re too small and not strong enough.”
winning than losing.
“I’m a really bad loser,” he says. “It stays with me for a while. I
always take it quite personally when we don’t win as a team or I don’t win in everything else I do.”
While the athlete is dedicated to soccer, there is one sport he can do without. “People always ask me, ‘Do you play golf?’ Because a majority of sportsmen do,” he tells the magazine. “I used to play, quite a few years ago, but to be honest, I’d rather spend four hours with the kids than four hours on a golf course. As much as it can be relaxing, it’s a frustrating sport. My way of relaxing is listening to music and spending time with the kids.”
• Victoria Beckham, celebrating her August cover
for Allure with husband David Beckham by her
side. The happy couple attended an A-list soiree (thrown by the mag’s
editor-in-chief Linda Wells) on the roof of
the Thompson Beverly Hills hotel. The couple held hands on the way to
dinner, and acted “affectionate all night long,” a guest tells us. Guests
were also given the Beckhams’ new fragrance, Signature for Her, and dined on
sushi, steak and salad cooked by BondSt, the sushi restaurant inside the hotel.
• Also at the Allure fete: Kate Beckinsale and hubby Len Wiseman. Eva Longoria Parker was there with husband Tony Parker, too
- and the Desperate Housewives actress hugged Beckinsale,
saying, “You’re so tiny!”
• Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson were
attached at the hip inside the bash, a guest tells us. Even while Ronson spun
her famous blend of ’80s tunes from the deejay booth at the
event (which also brought out Jamie Foxx and Quincy Jones),
Lohan was huddled by her side. Later, the twosome joined the
party and, at one point, Lohan even ordered tea (how proper!) while sitting
at the Beckhams’ table.
• Ginnifer Goodwin, biking to Santa Monica’s Exhale Yoga
with boyfriend Chris Klein. The pair went in together, then set up their
mats side-by-side. Klein put his mat so close to his girlfriend’s
- too close! - that the teacher had to separate them. After their
workout, the pair hopped on their bikes and headed off.
• Cynthia Nixon and her girlfriend, Christine Marinoni, enjoying a quiet dinner
at Wei Fun in East Hampton, N.Y. The couple sat on the patio eating curry shrimp,
vegetable fried rice and pea shoots, and drank tea.
• Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf, hosting the Eaturna
Kids Tennis Clinic in Santa Monica. The cute couple was very professional,
letting every kid - among the 100 who turned out - participate.

L.A. Galaxy star David Beckham may not have won Sunday’s match against D.C. United, but the star gave the crowd a thrill anyway when he showed off his famous abs at the end of his team’s game.
In accordance with international soccer custom, he exchanged jerseys with D.C. United player Gonzalo Martinez after Beckham’s team lost the 90-minute game at Washington, D.C.’s RFK Stadium, 4-1.
Despite being disappointed by the loss, the British soccer star, 33, told reporters at the post-game press briefing that he took comfort in the large number of fans who showed up to watch the game - many of them wearing Beckham T-shirts.
“It’s an amazing honor for me, you know, to pull into most stadiums around the U.S. and see the amount of shirts and the amount of kids and people that have got my name on the back of their shirts. I’m honored by that,” said the midfielder. “But you know, we need to win games. That’s the most important thing.”
