In 2004, he urged people to “vote or die” with a flashy campaign. This time around, Diddy let cameras into the voting booth with him.

“People died for us to have this right,” the rap mogul says in this clip, which shows him casting his vote in New York City Tuesday. “So to exercise this right today is to give back to Martin Luther King and Rosa Parks and everyone who fought for us.”

Although he doesn’t specifically call out Barack Obama in the video, Diddy - who turns 39 on this election day - has made his support for the Democratic candidate clear in the past.

Referring to the black community, Diddy says, “We’re not going to vote for anyone just because they’re black. We’re going to vote for the best candidate. He has to be extra qualified for us to vote for him. ”

Gunfire erupted early Saturday at an Atlanta nightclub party sponsored by Jermaine Dupri and attended by music stars Usher, Nelly and Sean “Diddy” Combs. A security guard was reportedly wounded.

“I’m sad this incident happened because it interrupted a beautiful and loving party. But I’m happy none of my people or friends got hurt. And the party continues,” Dupri tells PEOPLE in a statement.

The shots were fired at about 3:30 a.m. at the party at Dreamz ATL after some guests were allegedly double-charged by security guards to enter, DeKalb County police spokesman Marcus Hodge tells WSBTV.

The party also was attended by actresses Gabrielle Union and Regina King and actor Larenz Tate.

“I didn’t hear the shots, but around 3:30 a.m., everybody started ducking,” party guest Nigel D. of realtalkny.net tells PEOPLE. “Nobody really knew what happened. It was dark in the club. And everyone was trying to get out of the VIP area, but there were so many people no one could really move.”

An announcement was made that the sound wasn’t shots but a bottle popping or a speaker problem, “But people, including the celebs, were still trying to leave, so I don’t think anyone believed them,” he says. “I got outside, and the cops shut the club down. No one inside could leave and no one outside in the parking lot could leave either. One of my friends was stuck inside the club and people were scared that the shooter was still inside.”

Sean “Diddy” Combs is not engaged to singer Cassandra “Cassie” Ventura, despite some published reports to the contrary, a representative for the music mogul tells PEOPLE.

“Contrary to tabloid reports, there is no engagement. This was a complete fabrication,” states Combs’s rep.

Combs, 38, signed the singer, now 21, to his label Bad Boy Records, which released her debut album Cassie in 2006.

She also said, “We work hard together, so it makes a good combo.”

He may be king of the party scene, but Diddy longs to kick it with some real royalty.

“There is one person I really want to meet: the Queen of England,” he told the U.K.’s Telegraph newspaper on Tuesday. “I don’t know why I’ve never met her. She’s never invited me to the palace - not yet, anyway.”

While he waits (in vain?) for that invitation, Diddy said his tastes have already grown more refined. “I put out a statement that I have given up champagne and tequila,” he told the paper. “Champagne doesn’t agree with my palate any more, you see.”

These days, he insists, “I wouldn’t even say that I’m a big drinker.”

Tracey Edmonds is shooting down a British tabloid report that she is dating music and clothing mogul Diddy.

“Tracey Edmonds never uttered the words quoted in the %26#91;tabloid%26#93;,” her rep tells PEOPLE in an exclusive statement. “The story is a complete fabrication.”

A British paper reported that Edmonds, 41, called Diddy “the man for me” and said that he was funnier then her ex, comedian Eddie Murphy. The report, which was widely picked up on the Internet, went on to claim that Edmonds said Diddy “whisked me off my feet.”

Reps for Edmonds and Diddy both deny that the pair are romantically linked.

“Sean is very single,” the rep for Diddy says. “He and Tracy have known each other for over 10 years.”

Edmonds, who produced the 2001 movie Josie and the

Pussycats, split from Murphy, 47, in January only two weeks after they held an intimate wedding in Bora Bora. The ceremony was non-binding and they later said they’d decided to “forego having a legal ceremony.”

After years of ruling the music industry and New York nightlife, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is ready to make the transition to L.A. and acting.

“I think that it’s important for me to mature and evolve as an artist,” Combs tells PEOPLE at the From Harlem to Hollywood! ceremony honoring his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. “I’m trying to get my Black Bruce Willis on.”

Despite being accustomed to A-list treatment, he’s looking forward to starting at the bottom of the acting totem pole. “I’m trying to get Michael Bay to shoot me, have a hot soundtrack,” Combs said, “But I also realize I have a lot of work to do as an actor and I gotta prove myself.”

But staying true to his East Coast roots, he promises to bring some of that late-night flavor with him, saying, “I probably will be kind of after hours out here.”

He’s off to a good start, throwing a star-studded bash Friday night (Sienna Miller, Ne-Yo, and Ashton Kutcher are on the list) to celebrate what else? His L.A. arrival.
