• Fergie, making a new friend as she checked into
the Hotel Monaco in Seattle. In town to perform at the Puyallup Fair %26
Events Center, “she walked into the lobby,” an observer tells us, “and was
making a beeline for the elevator, but then she stopped at the concierge desk
when she saw a dog walking through.” Fergie then ran
over to pet the pooch. “It was cute,” the observer says. “She was actually
‘oohing’ and ‘ahhing.’”
• Jessica Simpson, making a brief (and accidental)
foray into political territory - literally. The singer and her
entourage (including, of course, maltipoo Daisy) crossed paths with John McCain and his own entourage at the Tampa International Airport, in an
area reserved for private planes and charter flights. Simpson
and the Republican presidential candidate never interacted, but the newly
minted country star was being followed by a video camera.
• After spending Fashion Week in New York, Hilary Swank returned to Los Angeles to focus on her own image. The Oscar winner
swung by Neil George Salon to dye her hair back from blonde to her natural
brown. “She couldn’t wait to get back to brunette,” a source tells us.
(Swank, of course, colored and cropped her hair for her role as Amelia
Earhart in the biopic Amelia.) In total, the process took about four
hours, and when Swank was finished she snuck out the front door, all bundled
up.
• Lauren Conrad, advertising her own collection
with a badge while eating breakfast at the Coterie trade show in New York.
Days before her Big Apple trip, the Hills star was spotted at
Dame Elizabeth Taylor’s favorite haunt, West Hollywood’s The Abbey, where she posed for pictures
with fans.
• After a big New York premiere, Ugly Betty castmembers
America Ferrera, Vanessa Williams, Becki Newton and Eric Mabius continued the celebration at Highbar in New York.
But they had a surprise guest star at the party - Lindsay Lohan, who also arrived on the red carpet at the event. She
briefly visited the bash, sipping Shirley Temples, bouncing to the music and chatting with some
friends.
• Serena Williams and Josh Groban, watching rapper
Common’s show - with opening act N.E.R.D. - at
the Wiltern in Los Angeles. … Jewel, walking through the lobby
of the Alexis Hotel in Seattle in her sports bra and pink shorts. “Clearly
she had just come from a workout,” an onlooker tells us about the petite

• Fergie and fiancé Josh Duhamel, capping off their weekend with a big family dinner at West Hollywood Italian eatery Il Sole. The group of eight feasted on bellinis, heirloom tomato burrata salad and dover sole. Among the group: Fergie’s mother and Duhamel’s sisters. And while they were surrounded by family, the couple was “super affectionate,” an onlooker tells us of the two, who shot each other loving stares and shared kisses. On their way out, Fergie posed for photos with some of Duhamel’s family before calling it a night.
• Even at 6 a.m. Audrina Patridge was looking fresh as
she made her way through Chicago Midway Airport rolling her Louis Vuitton
bag, an onlooker tells us. The Hills star, who had “amazingly
glowing skin,” sported red pants, and wore her hair in a messy ponytail as
she walked through the airport terminal with a female companion. (Related photos: See other stars and
their fashionable airport looks!)
• Looks like she has a new favorite spot: After accidentally stopping by Hollywood’s Green Door earlier
in the week, Kirsten Dunst returned to hang out -this time on purpose! The actress, sporting a white T-shirt and black and
white printed skirt, drank vodka sodas (with lime) and “danced until the
lights came on at 2 a.m.,” an onlooker tells us.
• On the eve of the L.A. Tropic Thunder premiere, the
movie’s main men, a mustachioed Robert Downey Jr. and Ben Stiller, celebrated Thunder screenplay cowriter Justin Theroux’s 37th birthday at West Hollywood’s Chateau Marmont. “They were
inside and took over the entire lobby,” an onlooker says of the birthday
bash, which culminated in “fab chocolate cake.”

in New York’s SoHo neighborhood. The starlet danced along to the

(separately) at Club Bud, a multi-level nightclub inside the National
Agricultural Exhibition Center in the heart of the Chaoyang District.

Monday’s Couples Watch >
Fergie turns out to be as big a Miley Cyrus fan as anybody - as the Black Eyed Peas singer demonstrated at Sunday’s 10th annual Teen Choice Awards.
During the Hannah Montana star’s opening number - Cyrus hosted the show, at Universal City’s Gibson Amphitheatre - she performed her single “7 Things,” running in every direction but stopping to deliver a rose to audience member Fergie.
And Fergie’s reaction? Just like any other Hannah Montana fan’s. She started jumping up and down.
Top winner in the TV division was Gossip Girl, whose six awards included those for choice drama and breakout show - while its star, Chace Crawford was named choice breakout actor; Blake Lively, breakout female and TV drama actress; and Ed Westwick, who plays the antagonistic Chuck Bass, choice TV villain.
“I feel like I’m still a teenager, because I’m perpetually in high school,” Crawford told reporters backstage. “And I’m 23.”
The Jonas Brothers also won six awards: choice single, breakout group, love song, song of the summer, male red-carpet fashion icons and male hottie awards.
Introduced by The Office’s Rainn Wilson, Kevin, Joe and Nick made continuous appearances during the ceremony, thanks to a segment called “Ask the Jonas Brothers,” in which they answered questions sent in from fans on YouTube.
In the first, they are asked to describe the perfect date. Joe says it’s riding in white horse on the beach to pick up his date, then going to Paris, “maybe” Barcelona, “maybe” see a movie.
As for other winners, three surfboards went to Will Smith (one for Hancock and two for I Am Legend); Chris Brown accepted five music awards, including best male artist; Hayden Panettiere was best TV action-adventure actress; and David Beckham won best male athlete.
Bring his three sons on to the stage with him, Becks thanked America for accepting him. After his father’s speech, young Cruz Beckham suddenly broke into a break dance on stage as the crowd cheered him on.
The awards, which were selected by more 30 million votes cast online by teenagers, honor celebrities in TV, film, music, sports and fashion. The ceremony will air on FOX Monday night at 8 ET.

Quick, which actor on this cast list is just happy to be here: Daniel Day-Lewis, Nicole Kidman, Penélope Cruz, Kate Hudson, Dame Judi Dench and Fergie?
That’s right, thanks to Chicago director Rob Marshall, Fergie will play a prostitute in the movie musical Nine, alongside those Oscar night faves, according to an Associated Press interview.
“I’m speechless,” says Fergie, 33, who will sing a duet, “Be Italian,” with Day-Lewis.
“%26#91;My character%26#93; introduces him to the world of sexuality,” said the Grammy winner. “It’s a very strong song. I’m just thrilled I get to play a character.”
“I’m definitely going to be a sponge on set,” said Fergie. “I want to pick up on everything that all these brilliant actors are bringing to the table.”
She added: “I’m probably going to be the quietest that I’ve ever been while working just because I want to watch and learn.”
But Fergie is no big-screen rookie: She’s also appeared in Poseidon and last year’s Grindhouse.
And in other Fergalicious news, the singer is currently working a new album with the Black Eyed Peas.
“It’s a new sound,” she said. “We’re not doing the same old thing. We’re not trying to copy what’s out there on the radio. We’re being artistic and pushing the envelope.”
She was proudly flashing her engagement ring at the third annual Cartier Loveday celebration in L.A. on Wednesday, but Fergie remained coy about her wedding plans.
Asked about the best jewelry her fiancé, actor Josh Duhamel, has given her, she pointed to her engagement ring. “Well this one,” she told PEOPLE. “This one is by Duhamel, it’s a special stone and that’s the most amazing one because it means something.”
As for her wedding plans, “I can’t talk about it,” says the singer, 33, who announced her engagement last December. “I know I have a big mouth, but I can’t say. That’s the one thing that I have to hold private.”
And she has plans for a follow-up to her smash solo debut, The Dutchess. What’s next? “Getting in the studio,” she says, “making new music.”
Fergie is funking up the silver screen with “Labels or Love,” the new Sex and the City movie theme song. Although her version is fast-paced pop, the song also gives a nod to the original HBO series by incorporating the show’s classic instrumental theme at the beginning and end.
Listen to the song here:
“I grew up watching Sex and the City and I know a lot of my girlfriends did as well,” says Fergie. “We felt like these characters were our friends, so to be a part of this project has been amazing.”
Fergie’s song appears both in the film and on the Sex and the City: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, available May 27. The film hits theaters May 30.
India.Arie’s cover of Don Henley’s “Heart of the Matter” streams on the official Sex web site. Other artists featured on the soundtrack include Nina Simone, Al Green, Joss Stone, and Run-D.M.C. with Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith in their classic “Walk This Way.”

Fergie and Josh Duhamel’s wedding date may still be under wraps, but will.i.am can’t wait for his invite.
“I don’t know when she’s getting married, but I’ll be there,” the bride’s bandmate told PEOPLE at the Bloomberg afterparty for Saturday’s White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner in Washington, D.C. “I got a wedding gift for her and Josh - some new beats, so she can sing over them!”
Besides the bride, will.i.am also gushed about Duhamel, calling the Las Vegas star “super-duper cool - one of the nicest guys I’ve ever met.”
So what kind of spouse will the Duchess - who became engaged to Duhamel, 35, in December - be?
“She’s Fergie-Ferg, she’s just cool,” says will.i.am, also 33. “That’s like the coolest wife you could have, right?”
Fergie has been keeping busy: In addition to working with rapper Nelly on his upcoming album, Brass Knuckles, due June 24, she stars in his new video, which debuted Tuesday - and continues to deflect those nagging pregnancy rumors.
In the video for, “Party People,” Fergie goes glam - swinging above a runway, done up like a showgirl - then later goes side-by-side with Nelly as she sings two verses on the single.
All those pregnancy rumors are starting to make Fergie self-conscious. Dismissing chatter she’s expecting (”No, no,” the pop star insisted), Fergie told Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS-FM radio show Tuesday morning that she stepped up her exercise game in preparation for Fox’s Idol Gives Back special to hopefully squash the rumors. Perhaps to prove it - and also to show off her love of gymnastics - she performed a one-handed cartwheel during Sunday’s taped performance with the group Heart. Catch her skills when the special airs Wednesday on Fox.
Fergie pregnant? Absolutely untrue, according to her rep - and her mom.
“Nope, not at all,” Terri Ferguson said Tuesday on Ryan Seacrest’s KIIS FM radio show in response to a question about the rumor that her daughter was pregnant.
“Did you see her at the Grammys?” said the mom, who described Fergie, 32, as “skinny, skinny, skinny.”
As for scheduling plans, “We are not moving up the wedding,” Ferguson clarified on behalf of her daughter. In fact, the engaged couple “haven’t met with a wedding planner yet.”
Asked what might have triggered rumors of an early wedding and a pregnancy, Ferguson told Seacrest, “I think people can’t believe people do get married just because they love each other, not because they are pregnant.”
Ferguson also said she’s in no hurry for her daughter to provide her with grandkids. “Not soon, soon,” she said about whether she expected Fergie to start a family right away. “A couple years. They are newly engaged, Let them plan the wedding and all that.”
