shorts and flip-flops to the diner. According to the onlooker, the two

“weren’t lovey-dovey. They were just hanging out.” (Her rep tells PEOPLE the

pair are just friends and are not dating.)

• Tyra Banks, indulging her sweet-tooth at Crave

Cupcakes in Houston’s Uptown Park neighborhood while there to preview an

upcoming episode of her talk show. Banks walked in, with entourage in tow,

and took a seat at the bakery’s bar, where she immediately enjoyed some

delicious cupcakes. Her favorite flavors? Lemon and strawberry, an insider

tells us.

• Julianne Moore, lunching at ’sNice in New York’s West

Village. “She looked tiny and freckly and beautiful,” an onlooker tells us

of the actress, who ate a quinoa salad while poring over a script.

Jamie Lynn Spears may be only 17, but longtime Spears family friend Alli Sims is confident in the new mom’s parenting abilities.

“She’ll be a wonderful mom” to newborn Maddie Briann, said Sims, 26, at the opening of Beverly Hills boutique Shizue on Thursday. “I’m really excited for her.”

As for the family, Sims said, “You know, I haven’t talked to ‘em, but I know she’ll have so much fun, and the baby will bring her so much happiness.”

Sims had similar praise for aunt Britney Spears, saying, “She’ll be so much fun!” and predicts Brit will buy baby Maddie “lots of pink, fun, girly stuff.”

While Sims says she plans to visit Jamie Lynn “very soon,” she’s also busy working on a debut album: “I’m going to spend August in Nashville writing and recording.”

The music industry sang notes of congratulations to Jamie Lynn Spears Thursday night at a Songwriters Hall of Fame event in New York.

Spears’s infant daughter, Maddie Briann, made her debut Thursday morning.

“Congratulations Jamie Lynn. Wow, I’ve not had a baby yet,” English

singer-songwriter Natasha Bedingfield said at the soirée. “She’ll be able to give us all advice when it happens to us.”

The performers and songwriters told the Zoey 101 star

not to get too discouraged by the overwhelming media coverage of her early pregnancy and engagement to 19-year-old Casey Aldridge, a Mississippi pipe layer.

“My sister had a child at a young age, too, and I understand what that

is like,” soul singer John Legend said.

“You just hope that her family supports her and helps her with the baby and she’ll be all right.”

“I’m from a small town in Oklahoma, and any time you have a teenage

girl that is pregnant and has a baby that’s going to be the focus,” he

said. “It doesn’t mean she’s not going to be a great mother.”

Mom-to-be Jamie Lynn Spears is sporting some sparkling new jewelry - an engagement ring from fiancé Casey Aldridge.

Spears, 16, has been flashing the rock to friends and family around Louisiana and Mississippi, a source close to the family tells PEOPLE.

“She’s got an engagement ring,” the source says. “She’s been showing it off, talking about it.”

There is a new baby in the Spears clan! Jamie Lynn Spears and her fiancé Casey Aldridge welcomed a baby girl Thursday morning.

PEOPLE confirms exclusively that the baby was named Maddie Briann.

“Just the family was there,” says a source about the birth around 9:30 a.m. at a hospital in Mississippi, near her Louisiana hometown. “Everyone is healthy and happy.”

Jamie Lynn’s sister Britney, father Jamie and brother Bryan flew in Wednesday to be with her for the birth; her mother Lynne had been with her helping her get ready for the baby.

With her Nickelodeon show Zoey 101 already ended, Jamie Lynn went home to prepare for the birth of her baby. The actress, 17, and Aldridge, 19, got engaged in March. Recently, the couple purchased a three-bedroom home in Liberty, Miss., where Aldridge went to high school.

Over the last few months, Spears has kept busy by passing her GED exam, preparing the nursery and attending multiple baby showers.

Jamie Lynn’s Zoey 101 costar, Erin Sanders, told PEOPLE earlier this year that the actress will be a fun mother.

“She is just a very good-hearted and warm person,” he said. “We would always hang out on the set and she is a lot of fun, so I think she’s going to be an easygoing, fun mom.”

A Los Angeles-based celebrity shutterbug who was allegedly stalking the pregnant Jamie Lynn Spears and fiancé Casey Aldridge in a small Mississippi town has been arrested.

Photographer Edwin W. Merino, 30, posted bond Tuesday and has a court date next week, the Associated Press reports.

Merino denies the accusations, saying that while in Liberty, Miss. (near the Louisiana border), he remained about 200 feet from the couple and was using a telephoto at the time he was apprehended at a gas station.

“I’ve seen the young man Casey in pictures,” Merino said. “I haven’t worked on them myself. The first time I got a good look at him was in court.”

He added, “The one picture I got was kind of by luck. I got lucky when I saw them at Wal-Mart when I was buying deodorant.”

There has been no comment from the Spears camp.

Jamie Lynn Spears and her fiancé Casey Aldridge are in full-on nesting mode.

The parents-to-be, who recently purchased their first home together in Liberty, Miss., are preparing for the imminent birth of their child, sources tell PEOPLE.

“They’re very happy,” says a source. “They’re a fun little couple.”

To get settled in their new home, Spears, 17, and Aldridge, 19, recently had furniture - including an elaborately carved four-poster king-size canopy bed, a leather recliner, and a leather sofa - delivered to the house.

Spears, who is due to give birth soon, has been keeping a low profile as she readies the new house for her baby. The five-acre Liberty property is already equipped with a barn and studio, which was formerly used as a hair salon.

One new neighbor, who has already offered to babysit, says, “They’re just a sweet little old couple.”

Spears and Aldridge, who got engaged in March, plan to wed after the baby is born.

This weekend brought a Mother’s Day celebration for a mom-to-be - the second baby shower in a week for Jamie Lynn Spears.

Glammed up in a bright print dress and yellow heels, the expectant Spears, 17, gassed up her Range Rover on Saturday and headed to Liberty, Miss, where friends threw an early-evening event attended by “30 or 40 people,” a source tells PEOPLE.

While the baby’s father, Casey Aldridge, did not put in an appearance, his mom Joyce and sister Ashley were both in attendance. Other than immediate family, “it was a totally different group” from the first event, explained the source. “This one was more %26#91;Casey’s%26#93; family.”

After the “really nice” shower, the guests - including the mom-to-be - went out to dinner and then on to a club, the source added.
