Kate Hudson traveled with new beau Lance Armstrong to Canada over the weekend to help raise over $1 million dollars for cancer research on a fund-raising bike ride.

Armstrong hopped on his bike Saturday morning in the town of Waterloo, Ontario - along with 40 other local residents - for a 117-kilometer “Ride With Lance” event. Donations were to raise money for cancer treatment for two nearby hospitals - Grand River Hospital in Kitchener and Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto.

Then it was back to the big city. On Friday, Hudson took 4-year-old son Ryder out for lunch and ice cream in the trendy Toronto Yorkville shopping district and was also spotted with Armstrong’s kids (Luke, 8, and 6-year-old twin girls Grace and Isabelle) as he busied himself with pre-race festivities.

That night, Hudson and Armstrong were spotted hugging in the lobby of their midtown hotel in Toronto. “He was laughing and she was laughing and they put their arms around each other,” says one observer of the embrace. “It was sweet.”

After Saturday’s race, the actress joined Armstrong for a gala dinner at a country estate (where one thoughtful fellow guest presented them with cans of the insect repellant OFF!) and the couple happily posed for photos and chatted with the other participants about their kids and upcoming Father’s Day.

Asked if his kids like to ride bikes, Armstrong said, “They play flag football and do gymnastics,” says one guest.

“I was pretty starstruck,” says Tom Wideman, 47, a local businessman and one of the riders who rode up front with Armstrong during the bike ride. Wideman raised $42,000 for the fund-raising event and says the “down-to-earth, genuine” qualities of celebrities like Armstrong and Hudson is inspiring. “As a cancer survivor, Lance is very committed to take on the cause.”

“All in the family” may be the best way to sum up how Kate Hudson celebrated Father’s Day.

The actress took her son Ryder, 4, to brunch with her new boyfriend Lance Armstrong and his three children - Luke, 8, and twins Isabelle and Grace, 6 - at Frankie’s Spuntino in Brooklyn on Sunday.

The couple was spotted splitting into two cabs for the drive from downtown Manhattan - a boy cab and a girl cab.

Hudson’s ex husband, rocker Chris Robinson, also attended the two hour brunch.

Earlier in the weekend, Hudson and Armstrong were spotted in Toronto, for a charity bicycle race.

But even though Barbara Walters was asking the questions, Hudson stayed defiantly mum. “Yeah, I try not to talk about my personal life,” she said, while laughing awkwardly. Instead, she shifted the focus to Armstrong himself, telling Walters, “I think somebody told me he was going to be on the show next week. You should ask him %26#91;if we’re dating.%26#93;” Hmmm, think Armstrong will be more forthcoming?

Kate Hudson and Lance Armstrong may have been spotted together over the past month in getaways as far apart as Texas and France, but the actress doesn’t want to talk about that.

Opening up about a relationship “only causes more problems and more words taken out of context,” Hudson, 29, told Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS-FM radio show Monday. “Everything is always misconstrued.”

“My main priority in my life is my son,” said Hudson, referring to her 4-year-old, Ryder.

Yet as far as anything remotely revolving around the cycling champ, Hudson said only, “It’s better to let … people speculate as much as they want to speculate.”

Goldie Hawn says that daughter Kate Hudson is in good spirits despite her recent split from Owen Wilson.

“She’s doing really well,” Hawn told PEOPLE at the Partouche Charity Poker Festival in Cannes, where $1 million is up for grabs for a charity of choice. (Celebrity players include Hawn, Woody Harrelson, Dennis Hopper, Salma Hayak, Edward Norton and Tim Robbins.)

“My eyes are the window in to my soul and I can’t lie. I need them to keep a poker face,” said the actress, who was dressed in a plunging Roberto Cavalli gown accompanied by Bulgari jewels.

And how is daughter Kate? “She is amazing,” said Hawn. “She is an amazing girl.”

Despite a flurry of engagement rumors, Kate Hudson and Owen Wilson - Hollywood’s most notorious on-again, off-again couple - have called it quits, less than two months after rekindling their romance in Miami.

The end of their erratic courtship (they began dating in September ‘06) comes amid erroneous reports that the pair were engaged, fueled by photos of Hudson wearing a Tiffany %26 Co. ring (it was a prop!) both on-and-off set of her film Bride Wars, which she’s filming in Boston.

Since the split, Hudson, 29, and Wilson, 39, have each been spotted letting loose. On May 9, Hudson and Bride Wars costar Steve Howey, 30, visited Boston’s Liberty Hotel bar, Alibi. And on May 11, Wilson dropped by N.Y.C.’s Upstairs with two women.

“He was pretty chummy with the ladies … he was certainly doing some sweet talking,” according to an onlooker. “He looked happy to be there hanging with them.” The late-night outing was followed by a visit to Butter the next night, where he chatted up a sexy blonde. Says a Hudson source: “She feels dumb thinking it was so serious.”
