The accident occurred about 7:30 p.m. Monday in the Rancho Palos Verdes section of Los Angeles, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

“Reeves pulled out of a parking space parallel to the curb and grazed a paparazzo standing in the street in front of Mr. Reeves’s 1996 Porsche,” says a sheriff’s statement. “The man fell to the ground. Paramedics were summoned and treated the man at the scene. He was then transported via ambulance to a local hospital for further treatment.”

The nature of his injuries was not known.

This was the latest injury involving a celebrity and a photographer. Police say singer James Blunt also was involved in an accident last month in which a man’s foot was run over while Blunt tried to drive through a crowd of paparazzi.

, a self-described “vagabond,” is ready to settle down, he says - and that includes having a family.

“I’m trying not to be alone so much,” the actor, 41, who costars with in this summer’s The Lake House, tells Parade magazine in its June 11 issue. “And man, it’s a struggle. I want to get married. I want to have kids. That’s at the top of the mountain. I’ve got to climb the mountain first. I’ll do it. Just give me some time.”

In the interview, Reeves talks about his father, who abandoned the family when Reeves was a toddler, and his much-married mother, who moved the family numerous times - a lifestyle Reeves adopted himself.

“I’ve had a vagabond life,” he says. “There is a bit of the gypsy in me, and living that way seemed to make sense. I couldn’t settle down. I liked going to new places - renting apartments, staying in hotels. Then I turned 40. That birthday is hard, perhaps because you know you’re grown-up. So now it’s a makeover for me. I have bought my first house. I wanted a home.”

Reeves has faced a number of tragedies in his life. His best friend, River Phoenix, died of a drug overdose in 1993 at the age of 23, and Reeves’s sister, Kim, 39, is battling leukemia.

He also talks about his late girlfriend Jennifer Syme, whom he met in 1998 and who later gave birth to their stillborn baby daughter. Reeves and Syme remained best friends until April 2001, when Syme died in a car crash.

“Damn it! It’s not fair! It’s absurd,” Reeves tells the magazine. “Grief changes shape, but it never ends. People have a misconception that you can deal with it and say, ‘It’s gone, and I’m better.’ They’re wrong. When the people you love are gone, you’re alone.”

He goes on to say, “I miss being a part of their lives and them being a part of mine. I wonder what the present would be like if they were here - what we might have done together. I miss all the great things that will never be.”

One favorite haunt has proved to be local eatery La Traviata, where he dined Tuesday night on a spicy shrimp and pasta dish and champagne before sharing a lemon tart with his female companion. (After dinner he laid out a platinum American Express card, though they split the tab.) The Matrix star, 39, apparently loves this pasta dish - he’s ordered it several times at the cozy bistro, we’re told. Recently, a group of teenage girls celebrating a friend’s birthday there tried not to stare at Reeves - but the soft-spoken star stopped by their table anyway on his way out and congratulated the guest of honor. Unfortunately, the locals weren’t so hospitable on a different night at the popular Dog %26 Duck Pub - Reeves got up and left when an inebriated patron began heckling him.

Acting: The Dogg Method
Apparently rapper Snoop Dogg isn’t satisfied with the mostly supporting roles he’s had in more than 15 movies. “I want to be the star - I don’t want to be the costar. I’m trying to become the black ,” says Snoop, 32, currently starring in Soul Plane. don’t sit back and ask. He just tells the (studios) what he wants and they get it done.” A fair point. As far as what he’ll do for his craft, Snoop has his limits: “I’d gain weight, but I’d never cut my hair, because James Brown told me, ‘Snoopy, your hair is your strength.’ ” Would you argue with James Brown? Neither would we.

Idol Worship
As challenging as life can be for American Idol-ers, they know they can count on at least one person for support. No, not Simon. “They’re getting ready to launch their tour, so I’ll be going out and visiting them on the road,” perky panelist tells us. “I always stay in touch with the Idol kids, and they always know that in me they have someone that is there to be their friend and help them through the tough times.” The tour, which features Season 3 winner Fantasia Barrino, runner-up Diana DeGarmo and finalists La Toya London, Jon Peter Lewis, , among others, kicks off July 14 in Salt Lake City.

Keanu, Arnold Crash the Movie Stunt Awards | Keanu Reeves

Since there hasn’t been another awards show in Hollywood for a good five minutes, Sunday brought the fourth annual World Stunt Awards - where, not surprisingly, such stars as Brendan Fraser and Michelle Rodriguez crashed into each other.

At the Los Angeles event, Tony Angelotti and Mark Wagner won the best fight award for their swashbuckling in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, while Paul Eliopolus and Tanoai Reed won best “high work” for their plunges in “The Rundown,” the Associated Press reports.

In the “quite a mouthful” category, Debbie Evans was recognized as the sole best overall stunt woman for her work in The Matrix Reloaded.

Movie star Arnold Schwarzenegger, who also happens to be the governor of California, was among the attendees, and for good reason: His Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines director Jonathan Mostow was named best action movie director.

Also in the crowd: , winner of the action movie star of the year award for his work in The Matrix sequels.

Meanwhile, a crew of 10 drivers took the prize for best vehicle work in Bad Boys II. No word on whether the cars were also honored.

Spike TV will air a taped version of the event on May 26.
