As Shia LaBeouf continues to recover from his weekend car accident and DUI arrest in Hollywood, his mystery passenger has been identified as Transformers 2 costar Isabel Lucas.
The Australian actress, 23, was at LaBeouf’s side at the time of the car crash, the New York Daily News first reported on Tuesday.
Lucas, who was treated for minor bumps and bruises at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and released, is “friends” with LaBeouf, a movie source told the Daily News, adding that Lucas was well enough to return to the Transformers set on Monday.
The 22-year-old actor’s mom, Shayna LaBeouf told E! News that her son is doing well, despite his injuries from the car-flipping crash in the early hours of Sunday morning. “I’m at the hospital right now, he’s doing fine,” Shayna said.
The actor is recovering from hand surgery that will keep him from filming Transformers 2 for a month.
According to reports, Lucas has been dating Entourage star Adrian Grenier for several months.
Shia LaBeouf, who was arrested for drunk driving Sunday after being involved in a car accident in Hollywood, is recovering from surgery, his rep said in a statement.
“Attorneys for Mr. LaBeouf confirm that an automobile accident involving an additional party occurred early morning in Los Angeles on July 27, 2008,” said Melissa Kates in the statement issued Sunday evening. “Shia is currently recovering from extensive hand surgery with plans to return to work on the set of Transformers 2 within one month. No further comment will be issued at this time. ”
LaBeouf, 22, was driving in Hollywood when his car was involved in a collision around 3 a.m., Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Sgt. S. Wolf told the Associated Press.
He was treated at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for injuries he sustained to his head, left hand and knee, according to police. The female passenger riding with LaBeouf and the driver of the other car involved in the crash were not seriously hurt.

“It was immediately apparent to officers responding on the scene that LaBeouf was intoxicated and he was subsequently placed under arrest,” Wolf said.
The actor was booked for a misdemeanor DUI and released.

A rep for the actor had no comment.
This is not the star’s first run-in with the law. Last November, he was arrested at a Walgreens in Chicago after he refused to leave the store and because he appeared intoxicated. The charges were later dropped.
LaBeouf said later that he was “embarrassed” about the incident.
Amid the bigger, better and louder explosions that will be detonated in her upcoming movie sequel Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Megan Fox isn’t sure audiences will care about any of the quiet moments - like when she and Shia LaBeouf get to lock lips.
“As big as the first movie was, this is 10 times as big, 10 times as many set pieces, explosions and acrobatic stunts,” Fox, 21, tells MTV. “Shia and I make out a little bit; I don’t know if anyone wants to see that.”
To bolster the chances that they might, Fox says, “We’ve been having script meetings, and we’ve been reworking the script, because they wrote it fast because of the writer’s strike.”
“We’ve just been going through and trying to do some character stuff for Shia and myself in the middle of this crazy world that they’re in, “she says of the script sessions. “I can tell you that we’re on locations in some really exotic places.”
The result, she promises, will “be a badass movie. It’s just going to be a popcorn-visual-spectacle, summer film.”
As for guidance from her director, Michael Bay: “His main note to me is just to look hot,” reveals Fox, “so I try my best.”
Harrison Ford may be the movie veteran, but he knows his costar Shia LaBeouf is hot on his heels.
“He has an enormous talent,” Ford said of the younger actor at a press event for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull in Cannes on Saturday. “He had some very archaic skills to acquire and he worked really hard. He will be around for a long, long time.”
LaBeouf, who stars as Ford’s sidekick in the fourth installment of the Indiana Jones saga, said he was understandably nervous during the first few weeks of filming. “It’s terrifying and exciting,” he said. “Even if you’re welcome the scope is daunting and you have to get past that Harrison is Harrison - that’s very scary.”
So did Ford, 65, give LaBeouf any tips on being an Indiana heart throb? “Harrison laughs it all off,” LaBeouf, 21, says. “His star rose in a very different time. He was a different age, he wasn’t 21.”
According to Ford, it was the Indy newbie who was handing out the tips. After joking, saying “I taught him how to act,” he gushed: “I didn’t teach him anything, he taught me. He was an enormous pleasure to be around. I really enjoyed him a lot.”

Shia LaBeouf is “very embarrassed” about a video posted on YouTube in which he uses an homophobic slur in jest, the star’s rep says.
The video - which circulated around the Internet on Monday but has since been taken off YouTube - was recorded several years ago, LaBeouf’s rep told E! online.
In it, LaBeouf appears to be at a house party where, in an attempt to entice his friend into a slapping contest, the star calls the friend an anti-gay slur - and gets hit in return.
“The videotape that is currently being circulated is several years old and captures Shia playing a game among friends in which he uses a derogatory word toward a friend,” LaBeouf’s rep continued. “He regrets having used the word in any capacity and is very embarrassed that this footage is being seen by anyone.”
LaBeouf, 22, later laughed off the incident, saying the arrest stemmed from a misunderstanding involving pimple cream after a long night of drinking.
Earlier this year, he was also fined $500 for illegal smoking.

It was absentmindedness and acne that helped lead Shia LaBeouf into his embarrassing arrest at a Chicago Walgreens last December - though he’s now laughing off the incident.
During a Monday appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman, the star of the new Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull chalks up the unfortunate episode to a long night of drinking, his bad memory, two wardrobe changes and some pimple cream.
“Now I’m starting to feel like, “It’s really not that funny, guy,’ ” he recalled. “Men need that stuff, too.”
So, LaBeouf headed back to his hotel, forgetting to pick up his cigarettes. When he realized his oversight, he changed clothes - “My logic was off, to say the least,” he said - and returned to the drug store, where he had a second confrontation with the same security guard.
Forgetting his cigarettes again, LaBeouf left the store, “put on a hoodie,” then returned one last time - when he was taken down by a second security guard and arrested.
“I went to the police station with the pimple cream on my head,” the actor said, laughing about the incident.
LaBeouf was not charged in the incident.
Shia LaBeouf and Andy Samberg are going where few have gone before in the promos for Saturday Night Live - the Rockefeller Center roof garden!
In one of the three promos, LaBeouf, this week’s host, plays in the bushes with the SNL regular (”You’re welcome” for the tour, they proclaim).
And in another, Samberg even busts out his whip for a cute Harrison Ford impression and obvious plug for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which stars LaBeouf and hits theaters May 22.
The musical guest is My Morning Jacket - not My Night Jacket, which according to the last promo might make LaBeouf’s brain explode.
