The latest venture in their repertoire is their new book “Influence,” and Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen made a rare public appearance yesterday in Los Angeles.

The “Full House” hotties arrived at the Borders Books store in Westwood, California to a throng of fans, as well as a few PETA protesters.

Throughout the event, both Mary Kate and Ashley seemed to be in great spirits, joking and laughing with each other, and at one point they bent over cracking up together.

Fans of the Olsen twins lined up all day to get a glimpse of the famous duo, who were both dressed in their typical unique fashions.

TV father knows best - at least when it comes to approving boyfriends.

As Full House’s Danny Tanner, Bob Saget, along with the rest of America, watched Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen grow up in the shared role of his youngest daughter, Michelle Tanner.

These days the wildly successful 22-year-old twins make headlines for their fashion sense and their boyfriend choices. Mary-Kate has been dating N.Y.C. artist Nate Lowman, 29, for 10 months, while Ashley has been seeing National Treasure actor Justin Bartha, 30, for 5 months.

“I approve of anyone that makes my friends happy, and they’re my friends,” Saget, 52, told PEOPLE at “Cool Comedy, Hot Cuisine,” a benefit for the Scleroderma Research Fund at Caroline’s in New York on Tuesday. “I am protective of the people I love.”

Saget’s former costars have shown equal support for his adventures in dating. “They’ve approved of my girlfriends,” he said.

• Eva Longoria Parker, sharing an

early dinner with female friends at Katsuya Hollywood. The group kept

things light and healthy, ordering some of the restaurant’s signature

dishes, including edamame, crispy rice, albacore with onions and yellowtail

with jalapeno. “She was having a fun but quiet dinner,” a fellow diner tells

us. “She was talking and sat there drinking tea.”

• Courteney Cox Arquette, taking

daughter Coco, 4, toy shopping at New York’s FAO Schwarz flagship

store. Also along for the family outing: David Arquette. The Cox

Arquette clan joyfully perused the store, picking up an Ogosport and a Lady

of the Unicorns Barbie doll.

• Moments later, Salma Hayek entered the famed

store with daughter Valentina, 13 months. The actress stocked up on toys for

her tot, including a unicorn puzzle and some books. “They stayed a good

while,” a source says. “Little Valentina was in heaven.” Earlier, the pair

was spotted at Whole Foods Market in New York’s Time Warner Center.

According to an onlooker, Valentina was giggling and smiling as she grabbed

some clementines, much to her mother’s delight.

• Also spending quality time with the kids: David Beckham, who shared a boys’ trip with his older sons Brooklyn, 9, and

Romeo, 6, at the Hard Rock Hotel in San Diego. The soccer stud and his sons

grabbed dinner at Nobu while at the hotel. The boys sported matching flannel

shirts to dinner with their father.

• Ashley Olsen, taking a Mexican getaway with

boyfriend Justin Bartha. The two stayed in a two-story villa at the

Tides Riviera Maya in Playa del Carmen and clocked plenty of time in the spa

- and on the beach - during their vacation.

• Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart, celebrating

a friend’s birthday at Prive Las Vegas. The couple arrived around midnight

with a large group of friends, taking up an entire VIP section. While their

friends got a little more wild - dancing and drinking until 3 a.m.

- Ford and Flockhart stayed a bit more mellow, sitting next to each

other and swaying to the music in their seats.

There are no wedding bells in Ashley Olsen’s near future, according to her rep.

“Contrary to several tabloid reports, Ashley Olsen is not engaged to be married,” Nicole Caruso said in a statement exclusively to PEOPLE Wednesday. “Ashley is dating Justin Bartha and they are very happy.”

Earlier this week tabloid reports began surfacing that Olsen, 22, and Bartha, 30, are planning an elaborate $1 million wedding in the South of France.

In September, Olsen visited her actor beau on the set of his movie The Hangover in Las Vegas. Last month, they were spotted getting cozy over dinner at L.A.’s Sunset Tower Hotel’s Tower Bar.

• Ashley Olsen, joining beau Justin Bartha on the Las Vegas set of his new movie, The Hangover as

it filmed on the roof of Caesars Palace. “She was cute, laughing and

giggling throughout,” a source says. “She was wearing a headset and

listening to the whole production while Justin was shooting.” Between

takes, the two interacted, and Bartha would touch her face tenderly.

According to the source, he referred to Olsen as his “girlfriend.” While in

Sin City, the two stayed in a suite in the Augustus Tower at Caesars Palace,

and Olsen relaxed in the spa while Bartha continued filming.

• Ellen DeGeneres and wife Portia de Rossi,

joining a small group for a celebratory dinner on the patio of West

Hollywood’s Il Sole. “They’re so in love,” an onlooker tells us. “Doting Ellen

was seen feeding Portia a bite of tiramisu for dessert.” Nearby,

Kate Bosworth shared a girls night out with a friend,

splitting the Dover sole and bellinis.

• New Hollywood lounge Bardot opened its doors to friends for a low-key evening of old school tunes spun by Ryan Gosling and

a live band and burlesque show. The actor, looking dapper in black pants and

a white button-down shirt, played tunes from an elevated deejay booth while

guests enjoyed small plates of American bistro-styled food. A casual Catherine Keener chatted with friends near her table, while Brothers %26 Sisters‘ Emily VanCamp sipped wine over dinner with a

pal. Gosling seemed confident with his deejay gig, and later checked out the

live band in the neighboring room. The night ended with more tunes from

Gosling, including ’80s favorites like “Walk Like an Egyptian.”

• Vince Vaughn had the perfect dinner date while

visiting his hometown of Chicago - his mother! The actor stepped out to

Gibson’s Steakhouse for a meal with his mom while in town to support the

Chicago Cubs.

• How I Met Your Mother’s Alyson Hannigan and

hubby Alexis Denisof, sharing lunch at casual eatery Blue Plate in

Santa Monica. The two sat by the window, talking over lunch. “They kept to

themselves and were quiet,” says an onlooker. After they paid, the pair

walked out holding hands and smiling and headed down trendy Montana Avenue.

The “Full House” hottie was spotted on her way to the Ed Sullivan Theatre this afternoon (October 30) to tape a segment for “The Late Show with David Letterman” and talk about Influence, her new release with twin sister Mary-Kate.

Looking sexy and stylish, as usual, Ashley sported a simple thigh-length black dress teamed with a black ¾-length coat and a pair of black heels.

Earlier in the day, the paparazzi caught up to the mini-mogul as she ran errands around Midtown Manhattan, looking right at home in the big city.

Stepping out to promote the latest offering from the mini empire of products, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen headed over to the Union Square Barnes & Noble in New York City on Tuesday (October 28).

The former “Full House” starlets were on-hand to boost sales of their brand new book titled “Influence,” doing their best to ignore a group of PETA protesters situated out in front of the popular bookseller.

According to Editor Derek Blasbery, “The making of the book followed a simple routine: Mary-Kate and/or Ashley Olsen would pick me up and take me to a location where a scheduled interview would take place with a creative visionary.”

From there, Blasbery and the Olsen girls “put together all this text with photos of the interviewees and of course, the Olsens, pictured at various points throughout their lives.”

be a meeting, but smiling and laughing with her friends nonetheless.

• Nicollette Sheridan, getting friendly with David Spade at the opening of Beverly Hills eatery Luau. The newly single

Desperate Housewives actress holed up on the patio with the

funnyman for most of the night after arriving at the opening together. When

checking in, Spade referred to himself as Sheridan’s “plus one.” The two

then settled into their booth and seemed deep in conversation, not so much

flirty, an onlooker describes, but “intimate.” The pair stopped to chat with

the owner and Gary Shandling, but otherwise stayed focused on each

other.

• DJ AM, working hard at Las Vegas’s Pure Nightclub. Just after midnight,

the deejay got behind the turntables, causing clubgoers to roar with

excitement and snap photos of the recovering entertainer.

• Also in Sin City: Katharine McPhee, treating her

dancers to dinner at LAVO inside the Palazzo. In town for a private show,

the group started their evening with plenty of food - including grilled

beef kabob and chocolate bread pudding - before taking their party

upstairs to the nightclub.

• Where else would The Hills hottie Doug Reinhardt celebrate his birthday? West Hollywood’s Coco de Ville, of

course, where his buddy Frankie Delgado is a weekly promoter. The

reality star lived it up for his 24th with Delgado, pal

Brody Jenner and about 20 ladies by his side. The

birthday boy was having a good time, jumping all over the place and getting

friendly with his female guests. He even took off his plaid top by the end

of the night, walking around sans shirt before a huge group of his friends

jumped into a limo to continue the party at Reinhardt’s house.

The former “Full House” cutie looked very focused as she made her way into the main terminal, sporting a long black overcoat overtop a grey hoodie with slim fit black trousers and black leather shoes.

And in a recent interview, Ashley’s twin sister Mary-Kate revealed that when it comes to dating, both girls rely on each other for support.

“I just support her. If she doesn’t like him, I won’t like him. If she likes him, I’ll like him. [I] can put in my two cents, but I think, you know, whatever makes her happy. It’s her life.”
