The “Italian Job” hottie looked sleek as she passed the paparazzi, sporting a long black wool overcoat overtop a black dress with black stockings and black side-zip heels.

Theron was named the newest UN Messenger of Peace, and she plans to use her leverage to help end violence against women and girls around the globe.

Charlize passionately told press, “This is something that has been very dear to me, and disturbing to me for a long time,” when referring to the statistic that one in every five women worldwide will be a victim of rape or attempted rape at some point in their lifetime.

After hours of treatment, the Academy Award-winning “Monster” actress stepped out with a hat on - unwilling to offer up a glimpse of her new hairstyle.

The Hours Oscar winner Nicole Kidman and Monster Oscar winner Charlize Theron are about to star in a movie together - as a married couple.

Kidman will star in and produce The Danish Girl, based on a 2000 best-selling novel about real-life Danish artists - and husband and wife - Einar and Greta Wegener, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

In the 1920s, the male Einar (to be played by Kidman) posed as a woman for his painter wife Greta (to be played by Theron).

The finished portraits became all the rage in Copenhagen, which prompted Greta to encourage Einar to dress as a woman.

The independently produced film is now in pre-production, says the trade paper. In the meantime, a biopic is also in the works with Kidman set to play the late British singer Dusty Springfield (”The Windmills of Your Mind”), who enjoyed affairs with both men and women.

Former James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan thinks that President-elect Barack Obama would make a good 007.

“He’s cool enough. He’s definitely got the walk and the talk, yes,” the actor told PEOPLE at the second annual Jane Goodall Institute Global Leadership Awards Celebration in Washington, D.C., Friday night. “But I think he’s going to make a greater president. And Mr. Daniel Craig is a great Bond of his time.”

As far as casting goes, the actor also has filming the sequel to The Thomas Crown Affair on his mind. So who’s on his wish list for a female lead?

“Charlize Theron is someone who I’ve always admired. I think she’s someone who has acquitted herself grandly,” Brosnan told PEOPLE. “Nothing against Angelina Jolie. I think she’s a magnificent actress. But Charlize has a poise about her and has an inner strength and femininity which I really like to watch.”

Jolie was reportedly in talks to play the lead this past summer.

Brosnan, 55, and his wife, Keely Shaye Brosnan, 45, received the award for Responsible Activism in Media and Entertainment for their active support of Roots %26 Shoots, the global environmental youth program that Goodall started.

“Keely and I are honored to be in Washington, D.C., at such an exciting time in this nation’s history and to accept this award from our dear friend Dr. Jane Goodall,” Brosnan told the crowd at the $500-a-plate fundraiser.

“I have a wonderful wife in Keely, who is very versed in the world of green,” he told reporters. “This is a partnership now of 16 years and she has educated me on the environment and how to bring up children, whether it’s the food they eat or the food that we grow at home in Hawaii - clean water, good vegetables, recycling.” The couple has two sons, Dylan, 11, and Paris, 7, in addition to three grown children from Brosnan’s first marriage.

Charlize Theron has settled the $20 million breach of contract lawsuit against her, according to papers filed in Manhattan Federal Court Monday.

The suit was filed last year, when Swiss watchmaker Raymond Weil claimed that Theron had worn a Christian Dior watch during a press event in 2006, despite being paid “substantial funds” to exclusively wear Raymond Weil timepieces during the time in question.

While the details were not released, the papers do say that the suit will be discontinued as long as the terms of the settlement are completed within 30 days.

Bringing an end to her legal woes, Charlize Theron has reportedly settled a $20 million lawsuit after being accused of breach of contract by a luxury watchmaker.

Press reports tell that the bosses at Raymond Weil claim to have paid the Academy Award-winning actress a large sum to wear their watches exclusively between October 2005 and December 2006.

The troubles began at a press event in Austin, Texas in March 2006, where Charlize was photographed wearing a watch from the Christian Dior line. In April, Miss Theron then modeled a Montblanc watch on a billboard at a Swiss trade show.

After her lawyers’ failing efforts to have the case dismissed, Charlize offered up a settlement agreed upon by Raymond Weil, although the terms have not been disclosed.

The “Italian Job” cutie showed up on the red carpet looking stunning in a one-shoulder black dress teamed with a pair of strappy black heels.

Miss Hayek also opted for a black ensemble, including a ruffly blouse and a pair of loose-fitting trousers as she posed for the paparazzi.

The night was hosted by “Dancing With the Stars” star Samantha Harris and featured performances by Natalie Imbruglia and Jon McLaughlin. All funds raised went to Virgin Unite’s domestic and international programs, including the Eve Branson Foundation which helps women in Morocco generate their own income to support their families.
