For the past 10 years, music lovers have been glued to their televisions every weekday afternoon for MTV’s Total Request Live. And last night, MTV hosted “Total Finale Live,” a fitting end to a decade-long reign.
Starting the night off right, Beyonce Knowles treated the crowd at MTV’s Times Square Studios to a trio of hits including “If I Were a Boy,” “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It),” and “Crazy in Love,” while stars like Justin Timberlake, Diddy, Kid Rock and Vanessa Minnillo mingled with party guests.
Vanessa Minnillo reminisced, “I do know one thing that sticks out is when I was hosting and Mark Wahlberg was my guest. A crazed fan came and attacked him, so being the damsel in distress that I was, I threw my guest in front of me to defend myself, of course! That clip has now played over and over and over, and it’s a running joke here.”
And Mr. TRL himself, Carson Daly, revealed, “Nothing really stood out. I guess traveling, like TRL at the Super Bowl was incredible. I lived in The Bahamas one summer, which was nuts. We did TRL there. It was more like those bigger chunks that were cool. It was crazy.”

Mr. Bad Boy himself, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, could not keep it together when Barack Obama was announced President-elect Tuesday night.
“I was straight up crying,” he confesses. “I was with my kids. It was a beautiful thing. I just thank God my prayers were answered.”
A greater gift? It happened on his 39th birthday.
“I don’t know why God blessed me by having my birthday %26#91;on Nov. 4%26#93;, but we’re here to celebrate 80 percent of Obama being elected and 20 percent my birthday,” Diddy told reporters Wednesday night at a celebration sponsored by Ciroc Vodka at Mansion nightclub in New York.
Some of his celebrity guests: Mary J. Blige, Ben Stiller, Cassie, Cedric the Entertainer, and Pete Wentz.
“I have a ‘You Voted’ sticker in %26#91;the%26#93; baby book,” says Wentz.
Meanwhile, Cedric the Entertainer says his son Croix, 8, was full of questions: “‘What does the president do and what does it mean? And how old is Barack’s little daughter?’” I was like, ‘That’s what I’m talking about,’” the comedian joked. “‘Make that move!’”
On a more serious note, he says: “It was elating and it was just amazing talking to %26#91;him%26#93; about it.”
Though she wasn’t at the birthday party, Beyoncé Knowles did rearrange her schedule to make sure she would be in America on election night. The R%26B starlet was scheduled to promote her upcoming album, I Am … Sasha Fierce, in Japan but postponed her apperance at the last minute.
“I said, ‘What am I doing? I’m completely making a bad decision. I have to go home, I’m gonna kill myself if I’m not home in America,’” she told the AP. “I knew I needed to be here.”
Knowles watched the election results at home with friends and family - while wearing a blue suit and tie with matching red, white and blue stilettos.
“I’ve never been so patriotic!” she said. And, like Diddy, she was moved to tears. “I fell asleep crying and smiling at the same time … I woke up with mascara running and a smile on my face!”
Should Obama require her services, the singer is game: “Whatever they want - if they need me to volunteer, they need me to sing, I’m there and I’m ready.”
But what is most important, Knowles said, is that the newly elected president has provided inspriration for African Americans.
“My nephew, who is 4, when we say, ‘You can do whatever, you can be whatever,’ it’s not cliche,” she explained.

Oprah Winfrey has long been Barack Obama’s No. 1 fan, so it’s no surprise she wasted little time in speaking out about the Democrat’s historic victory Tuesday night.
“It feels like hope won,” the TV icon told Britain’s BBC. “It feels like there’s a shift in consciousness. It feels like something really big and bold has happened here, like nothing ever in our lifetimes did we expect this to happen.”
The talk-show host was on hand in Chicago to watch Obama’s victory speech, along with Brad Pitt and Jesse Jackson.
Meanwhile, in Los Angeles, Courteney Cox and hubby David Arquette hosted a Barack Obama victory party Tuesday night at their Beverly Hills home, E! Online reports. Jennifer Aniston, Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher were reportedly among the guests.

• Former Secretary of State Colin Powell: “We’re very, very proud to have a new American President who also happens to be African-American … As I watched %26#91;the news anchors call the election%26#93; - pretty moving moment. Everybody cried … I am overjoyed.”

In 2004, he urged people to “vote or die” with a flashy campaign. This time around, Diddy let cameras into the voting booth with him.
“People died for us to have this right,” the rap mogul says in this clip, which shows him casting his vote in New York City Tuesday. “So to exercise this right today is to give back to Martin Luther King and Rosa Parks and everyone who fought for us.”
Although he doesn’t specifically call out Barack Obama in the video, Diddy - who turns 39 on this election day - has made his support for the Democratic candidate clear in the past.
Referring to the black community, Diddy says, “We’re not going to vote for anyone just because they’re black. We’re going to vote for the best candidate. He has to be extra qualified for us to vote for him. ”

We’re used to seeing him parading around New York City in three-piece Italian suits, but yesterday Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs was out in Los Angeles keeping it casual.
The hip hop mogul donned a baggy white t-shirt, black gym shorts, black socks, and black sandals along with an arm sling to help his presumably injured left arm.
On his stroll through Sunset Plaza, Diddy happened by Café Primo where he ran into Djimon Hounsou who was having lunch there. The two chatted for a bit, and then Combs resumed his walk.
Adding yet another brand to his arsenal, Diddy recently acquired the Enyce clothing line from Liz Claiborne. He told press, “I bought this brand to add to my portfolio… for my mini fashion empire that I′m trying to start. I′m an entrepreneur. I bought Enyce. I thought it was a smart move.”

• Speaking of geishas, Avril Lavigne was dressed like one for an early Halloween celebration at Key Club in West Hollywood, where she belted out Joan Jett’s “Bad Reputation” during a special performance. The punky singer sang with a band that included her hubby Deryck Whibley, who wore a nurse’s costume and Joker-like face paint. Lavigne was introduced as “Mrs. Whibley” and “sounded amazing” during her turn on the mic, a source says. When they weren’t performing, the singer and her rocker husband shared a table at the nightspot with Mischa Barton, who was without a costume, though she did wear a headband for her night out.

• Dave Annable and Matthew Rhys made the most of hosting the DKNY dinner at BondST in Los Angeles, charming the table of (mostly) ladies with a constant stream of jokes and self-deprecation.
