The mystery thickens as Jack and his crew try to escape the clutches of The Others on the third season premiere of ABC’s hit, Lost. PEOPLE takes a look at the return to castaway island, plus other events TV premieres to watch for in the coming week:

SUNDAY, OCT. 1 Chris Rock will yet again add his rapid-fire comedic delivery as the narrator (and producer) of another season of Everybody Hates Chris, now on The CW. This time around, Whoopi Goldberg moves onto the block as Chris (Tyler James Williams) suffers through more than his share of teen angst - and tries to navigate the waters of his hilarious family. (7 p.m. ET)

MONDAY, OCT. 2: Once he was a Backstreet Boy and now Nick Carter is entering the reality TV fray with his E! show House of Carters. The premise: The singer recruits his four siblings (brother Aaron and their three sisters) to move into a house together and help them as they pursue their goals. (9 p.m. ET)

Cue the Prince Charming quips. On The Bachelor - Rome, some lucky lady will find hers. Okay, she’ll meet Italian Prince Lorenzo Borghese - this year’s bachelor in question - but close enough. The cosmetics executive will have his pick of 25 ladies in romantic Rome. And if his princely pedigree doesn’t impress, perhaps they’ll be wowed when taking in the city’s sights. (ABC, 9 p.m. ET)

TUESDAY, OCT. 3: Season 3 of Veronica Mars gets geared up as Veronica (Kristen Bell) begins college - and makes her presence known to her classmates. The super-sleuth has a formidable task as she becomes a coed: tracking down a serial rapist on campus. (9 p.m. ET).

WEDNESDAY, OCT. 4: With Jack (Matthew Fox), Kate (Evangeline Lilly) and Sawyer (Josh Holloway) at the mercy of The Others, what will happen to them? As the third season of Lost kicks off, we find out the answers to that, plus other mysteries awaiting the castaways. (ABC, 9 p.m. ET)

The home rented by Lost actress Evangeline Lilly in Kailua, Hawaii, has been lost in a fire that completely destroyed the residence, Lilly’s rep confirms to PEOPLE.

“Yes, it is unfortunately true that her home in Hawaii burned down this morning,” said the rep, Cara Tripicchio. “Thankfully, Evangeline is safe as she was on set already when it occurred.”

Tripicchio added: “There is no official statement, and I have no further comment or information to provide at this time.”

The house, which Lilly reportedly shares with two women who work on the Lost crew, was empty at the time of the blaze. No injuries were reported.

Honolulu Fire Capt. Kenison Tejada said the fire is believed to have been sparked by a faulty electrical outlet in the outdoor porch area of the house. Damage to the house was estimated at $250,000, while the contents were valued at roughly $50,000.

Tejada said that his department received the alarm at 6:43 a.m. Wednesday, and that crews reached the scene six minutes later.

“When we arrived the house was fully engulfed,” Tejada said. “It was a complete loss. Just the roof was still standing.”

He confirmed that none of the house’s three female residents were home at the time of the fire. Two were at work and the third was off island, he said.

Lilly, 27, who plays Kate on the series, earlier this year has been romantically linked to costar Dominic Monaghan.

Fire investigators arrived on the scene of the early morning blaze later on Wednesday.

“I woke up to my dogs barking,” Morgan Janus, a neighbor who lives across the street, told the Honolulu Advertiser newspaper. “There were loud popping sounds, like something electrical.”

Jessica Simpson and Eva Longoria share the same hairstylist - Ken Paves - and now they’ll be sharing screen time. The new pals are teaming up to costar in Simpson’s video for her song “Public Affair.” “We haven’t shot it yet. I just know I have to show up Friday somewhere. We’re going to be roller-skating and I know there’s an ’80s theme,” Longoria told us at the recent T-Mobile Sidekick 3 launch party, where she chilled with the singer. Also on hand at the Hollywood bash: former Nick Lachey flames Kim Kardashian and Kristin Cavallari.

A few days earlier, Simpson went back to her home state to hang out with her other girls - mom Tina and sister Ashlee, who was performing in Dallas. They celebrated a friend’s birthday at the Hotel ZaZa’s chic Dragonfly restaurant and went to the club Urban Oasis, where they sat in a VIP area and sipped champagne while chowing down on french fries with ranch dressing.

Getting ‘Lost’

Before she begins filming the new season of Lost in August, Evangeline Lilly plans to hit the road - preferably to a spot where she’s unrecognizable. “I don’t know where I want to go - Mongolia or Timbuktu. Someplace where they don’t watch Lost!” she told us at a party thrown in her honor by footwear designer Michelle K (the actress is the new spokesmodel for her shoe company) at L.A. store Kitson. “You never know though - they’ve caught Lost mania in so many countries you wouldn’t expect. Africa, Asia, Russia, all over the place.” No word on whether beau and costar Dominic Monaghan will be hitching a ride with her.

• Tobey Maguire, hanging out at New York City hot spot Guest House with a rowdy group celebrating Brazil’s win against Croatia in a World Cup game. The Spider-Man 3 star was approached by a steady stream of pretty women but he politely shooed them all away.

• Catherine Zeta-Jones, getting her hair trimmed and conditioned by stylist Lorenzo Martin at the Jose Eber Salon in Beverly Hills. During her appointment, the actress chatted with some out-of-town visitors. “She talked to two women from North Carolina for an hour,” says an observer. “They were telling her how much they loved her in Chicago. She was so gracious and friendly.”
