The holiday season is almost upon us, and Fergie stopped by the “Today Show” this morning to help unveil the new Swarovski star for the Rockefeller Christmas Tree.

The “Big Girls Don’t Cry” songstress looked to be having a marvelous time as she hammed it up with the show’s hosts, looking hot in a white and black printed dress teamed with black stockings and black heels.

And in a recent interview, Miss Ferguson revealed that she packed on some extra pounds as of late, all in the name of landing a role.

“I’ve actually gained 10 pounds. No, really – for the film, ‘Nine.’ Actually, 13 to be exact.” How did she do it? “Fish and chips. Everything fried – things I don’t normally eat.”

And now that she’s trying to lose her newfound mass, Fergie says she’ll take it easy on the holiday meals. “You can do creative things. You know turkey isn’t fattening—you can do that. A little bit of gravy—have a nice big salad.”

“Eyes Wide Shut” actress Nicole Kidman and her hunky country crooner hubby Keith Urban looked blissful as they arrived on the red carpet, with Nic sporting a spaghetti strap ivory-colored dress while Keith opted for a dark suit and tie.

Kate Bosworth, who kept it simple-yet-sexy in a sleeveless black and white knee-length dress teamed with a pair of black heels.

Natalie Portman turned her fair share of heads in a girlie black sleeveless dress, while Fergie looked busty in a cleavage-baring white floor-length gown.

Other celebrities gracing the red carpet in serious style included Sarah Michelle Gellar, Taylor Swift, America Ferrera, and former First Lady Hillary Clinton.

Celebrating successful ladies all around the globe, the stars turned up for the Glamour Magazine Honors the 2008 Women of the Year event at Carnegie Hall in New York City on Monday night (November 10).

Among those joining Glamour Editor-in-Chief Cindi Leive were one of this year’s winners, Nicole Kidman, who showed up to the event alongside her country singing hubby Keith Urban.

Natalie Portman, Kate Bosworth, America Ferrera, Taylor Swift, Fergie, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Debra Messing, among many others.

Other winners of at this year’s ceremony included Hillary Clinton and Jane Goodall, as well as “model-turned-talk-show-host Tyra Banks, U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, athletes Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh, artist Kara Walker, human rights activists Nujood Ali and Shada Nasser and Chanel CEO Maureen Chiquet.”

According to a company press release, Glamour said the women were all chosen because they have “made unprecedented contributions to the worlds of entertainment, business, sports, fashion, science and politics.”

The show began with Spears and Madge collaborating on “Human Nature,” with Britney looking slick in a white frilly top and black trousers as she took the stage, looking happier than ever.

A concertgoer told press, “This was a completely different Britney from a year ago. She was glowing! It looked like she actually wanted to be on the stage.”

Later on in the show, Madonna was joined by Justin Timberlake for a dance-infused rendition of “4 Minutes,” a performance that had the crowd (which included celebs like Heidi Klum, Jennifer Lopez, Drew Barrymore, Kate Moss, Ryan Seacrest and Fergie) singing and dancing along.

A few days before the gig, there were some technical problems, but that didn’t stop Madge. She told press, “Even though my stage roof was damaged and some lights and effects aren’t working, I want to do the show anyway because I don’t want to disappoint my fans.”

The Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson, has a nickname for her daughter Beatrice’s American boyfriend, Dave Clark.

“I call him Mr. Smiley,” she tells PEOPLE, “because he smiles and he’s happy. I love Dave. He’s cool.”

Fergie joined Beatrice, 20, Wednesday at the Virgin Unite’s ‘Through the Looking Glass’ charity fundraising evening event in London, along with Kelly Rowland and mogul Richard Branson.

Fergie is a big fan of Clark - he works for Branson’s Virgin Galactic space venture - not just for his grin, but because he’s a good guy.

Fergie and Beatrice recently returned from a trip to Romania, filming a documentary for Britain’s ITV1 about the condition of orphanages in the country.

“It’s an experience very difficult to put into words,” Beatrice tells PEOPLE. “Because I’ve been there, I know in my heart - everyday I wake up and everyday I smile, I think, ‘How lucky am I?’”

Back in Britain, Beatrice, now a freshman in London, calls college “a lot of fun,” she tells PEOPLE. “Every day’s a new experience.”

Fergie recently told press that she’s been enjoying the prep work for her new movie “Nine,” as she’s been ordered to bulk up a bit before shooting starts in the UK.

She revealed, “I actually love (British food). I was actually told to gain weight for the film so I’ve been eating everything - anything and everything. That’s why I am covering up except for my legs because they never gain weight and that’s the only part that never changes but everything else is covered.”
