Gavin Rossdale’s son Zuma is only 2 months old, but he’s already exhibiting a Zen-like personality that inspires his father.
“He’s super mellow, and at the moment very Buddha-like,” Rossdale told PEOPLE at BAFTA/LA’s Brittania Awards, where he performed Thursday night.
Still, Rossdale says Zuma has been a little bit fussier for mom Gwen Stefani than his older brother Kingston, 2, who was an even more blissed-out baby. “Apparently Zuma’s more trouble, but I thought that he was perfect all the way.”
Rossdale’s enjoying a career comeback with his first official solo album Wanderlust and the hit single “Love Remains the Same.”
Still, that success comes at a price. Being away from his kids leaves him “feeling a bit bad. Like, I left my son. He was on holiday and I left the older one to come here. So I feel bad leaving them.”
“I haven’t really written any songs about %26#91;my sons%26#93;,” he says. But Rossdale is happy that fans are responding to his softer sound. “It’s just meant a lot, really, because of your faith. You keep making records and people hear them. I love singing and making music and so I’m into the success.”
Performing at the Brit-centric BAFTA/LA event returned the London-born singer to his roots, something he maintains at home. “At my house?” he says. “Yes, for sure. English roasts. Good tea. What else do I bring? Irony. A lot of irony. A very dry, caustic humor. You might not get it, but just as you think you haven’t got it, it turns around and whips you.”
The one purely American thing he can’t do without? Grinning, he says, “My wife.”

Lunch with Kingston Rossdale is one of his musician dad’s favorite weekly gigs.
“I have so much fun taking Kingston out for lunch; it is something I look forward to on a regular basis,” Gavin Rossdale tells PEOPLE about his 2-year-old son with wife Gwen Stefani. “He really loves noodles. I think that has become his favorite food. We try to find new places to order them.”
Rossdale, 40, says that he takes Kingston out alone so
mom can take care of their 3-month-old son, Zuma.
“Gwen is amazing with Zuma and does most everything while I just hang out,” he admits. “Even though we share responsibilities with the kids, Gwen definitely does more than I do.”
So why don’t Gwen and the kids come watch Daddy play tennis with other stars like 12-time Olympic medalist Dara Torres, and comedians Billy Crystal and Chevy Chase?
“Gwen never comes because she doesn’t do what I do,” says Rossdale, all decked out in a handsome black tux. “She doesn’t play tennis or get ready for events quickly!”

Given the worldwide obsession with celebrity babies and children, yesterday’s scene at Coldwater Canyon Park achieved a whole new level of cuteness - as Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale’s son Kingston enjoyed some playtime with Tobey Maguire’s daughter Ruby Sweetheart.
The two celebrity tikes seemed to enjoy each other’s company as they were pulled around in a classic red Radio Flyer wagon by Kingston’s nanny, with Ruby’s mother Jennifer Meyer also joining in on the fun.
Speaking of Kingston, his father Gavin recently told press that he’s starting to get used to having a little sibling around, and that 2-month-old Zuma is growing on him.
“It’s like, here is this guy, and he’s not leaving. [Kingston] is getting used to that. Obviously, there are moments that he’s bugged out that someone is in his spot with his mom. His mom is great, so I agree with that. I just can’t complain about it. I think it’s just natural. That’s what happens.”

Doing a little mother-son bonding, Gwen Stefani was spotted out with her eldest Kingston at the Farmer’s Market in Los Angeles yesterday (October 26).
The “Hella Good” songstress enlisted the help of her nanny and an assistant on the outing, and looked fantastic in a black v-neck long torso sleeveless top with jeans and platform heels.
Stefani’s husband Gavin Rossdale recently told press that Kingston is adjusting well since little brother Zuma was added to the family. “It’s like, here is this guy, and he’s not leaving. (Kingston) is getting used to that. Obviously, there are moments that he’s bugged out that someone is in his spot with his mom. His mom is great, so I agree with that. I just can’t complain about it. I think it’s just natural. That’s what happens.”
Gavin also revealed that a second child is quite a handful for him and his wife. “One is one, and two is 10. That’s all I know! It’s going really well. It’s not so bad. We’ve got it down now, you know.”

Kingston Rossdale is still adjusting to life as a big brother.
“It’s like, here is this guy, and he’s not leaving. %26#91;Kingston%26#93; is getting used to that,” dad Gavin Rossdale tells PEOPLE about 2-month-old son Zuma with wife Gwen Stefani. “Obviously, there are moments that he’s bugged out that someone is in his spot with his mom.”
Rossdale, 40, joked, “His mom is great, so I agree with that. I just can’t complain about it. I think it’s just natural. That’s what happens.”
Rossdale spoke with PEOPLE at a VH-1 Save the Music Foundation benefit at Esquire magazine’s Hollywood Hills House, where he performed a 25-minute acoustic set of songs. Wife Stefani, 39, did not attend.
A Save the Music representative, Rossdale is easing Kingston, 2, into the family musical tradition. “He’s got good rhythm. So, I’m happy about that it. I don’t push him beyond that. I let him enjoy it,” said the rocker. “He listens to lots of music, he really enjoys it. He likes a good beat.”
And in other family news, the boys are ready to go with their Halloween costumes: “One’s an elephant, and one’s a shark,” said Rossdale. “Zuma’s the shark.”

Showing off their Halloween spirit, Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale dressed up as ‘Bacon And Eggs’ at a pre-Halloween party in West Hollywood on Saturday night (October 25).
After enjoying the evening’s festivities, a tired Gwen was spotted emerging from the party spot still clad in her ‘Egg’ costume while her rocker hubby took his ‘Bacon’ costume off, covering up baby Zuma on the way out to the car.
And though he didn’t get his wish on this particular evening, Gavin can still hold out hope that his lovely wife will dress in “a seductive blood-covered nurse outfit” before the Halloween festivities are over.
“She is really good at that dressing up stuff. I’m English so we’re too uptight to be good at that stuff,” Rossdale told press. “I’d like us to dress as a doctor and nurse but covered in blood. That’s great. So anything to do with blood would probably be good.”
As for the couple’s two-year-old son Kingston’s outfit, Rossdale tells: “Kingston has like three outfits. He’s got a rhino, a tiger and I think an elephant, so he’s got to choose between them. We keep rotating them. He’s got style like his mom.”

Britney Spears revved up the celebration for sons Preston and Jayden on Saturday, throwing her sons a joint car and truck-themed birthday bash in Los Angeles.
And the party was truly a family affair.
Spears celebrated her boys’ special days - Preston turns 3 on Sept. 14, and Jayden turned 2 on Sept. 12 - with sister Jamie Lynn Spears, her newborn niece Maddie Briann, dad Jamie and mom Lynne.
Held at close friend Adrienne Maloof-Nassif’s Beverly Park house, the outdoor party drew some famous guests, including Jenny McCarthy with her son Evan, and Gwen Stefani’s son Kingston, 2, who came to the bash from an equally starry affair: He celebrated Heidi Klum’s son Henry’s 3rd birthday at the model’s Beverly Hills house along with all three of Victoria Beckham’s sons.
“The boys received tons of birthday gifts,” a source told PEOPLE. “Britney and her family really made the party special for the boys.”
