In the wake of a very messy and public divorce, Guy Ritchie is relying on his work to get him through the day. And earlier today (October 29), the English director was spotted out in Manchester with a few “Sherlock Holmes” colleagues.
The “RockNRolla” stud was on his way out of his Manchester hotel on the way to the set of his new film, looking a bit bleak as he passed the paparazzi.
Robert Downey Jr, Jude Law, and actress Kelly Reilly, all bundled up for the blistery UK fall weather.
Due out in theaters November 20th 2009, “Sherlock Holmes” is about Detective Sherlock Holmes (Downey Jr.) and his stalwart partner Watson (Law) who engage in a battle of wits and brawn with a nemesis whose plot is a threat to all of England.

Sure, he’s going through a messy divorce from Madonna, but that’s not stopping Guy Ritchie from painting the town red with his boys Jude Law and Robert Downey Jr!
The “Sherlock Holmes” director and stars were spotted on their way to a private viewing of artist friend Sam Taylor Wood’s new exhibition at the White Cube Gallery in Downtown London.
Ritchie’s blissful appearance is a relief for his fans after hearing that he’s been having a terrible time with the divorce.
Earlier this week, Guy reportedly saw a picture of his 8-year-old son Rocco wearing a Yankees t-shirt (Alex Rodriguez’s team) and was “in pieces” over it. A friend told press, “He’s actually been crying over it. He’s in a terrible state but is doing his best to be on form at work.”

While his divorce from Madonna goes from bad to worse with allegations of each other’s failings, Guy Ritchie looked happy Thursday night as Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law took him out on the town.
The trio made a surprise visit to the White Cube Gallery in London’s tony Mayfair district for a private-view exhibition held by British artist Sam Taylor-Wood.
“Guy was in great form, hanging out with friends having a good time,” one gallery guest tells PEOPLE. “He seemed quite merry and had his arms around lots of people and smiling.”
“Guy seemed quite happy being out and about with his friends,” adds the guest. “I think the distraction is just what he needed, especially the way he was smiling.”
Ritchie and his posse are now expected to head to Manchester in northwest England to continue filming for another week.

Sienna Miller’s steamy affair - and much of her body - has been exposed now that the barely clad actress has been spotted kissing married Balthazar Getty in a boat off the Amalfi coast.
Miller, who had a roller-coaster relationship with Jude Law and broke up with actor Rhys Ifans only weeks ago, has been quietly dating Getty for “at least two months,” said a source.
Miller, sporting a sailor’s cap, was also spotted topless on the balcony of an Italian hotel room kissing Getty. Meanwhile, the Brothers %26 Sisters actor, 33, and his wife Rosetta “have been living separate lives for a while,” a source tells PEOPLE.
Getty, who has a tattoo of his wife’s name on his chest, married Rosetta in May 2000. They had their fourth child together 10 months ago.
The two met through Getty’s Brothers %26 Sisters costar Matthew Rhys. Rhys, who briefly hooked up with Miller, was livid when the photos of the couple surfaced, says a source.

When you think of teen actress Amanda Bynes, you probably don’t think “masculine.” But the What I Like About You star goes butch in her latest movie, She’s the Man, in which she plays a high schooler passing for her twin brother. Bynes, 19, talked to PEOPLE.com about fake facial hair, adolescent acne and why gorgeous guys aren’t for her.
Have you seen the ’80s teen cross-dressing movie Just One of the Guys?
Yes, I had. The cast watched different movies every night to help inspire us: Twelfth Night, Mrs. Doubtfire, Tootsie, White Chicks, and I went to see Transamerica.
What was the hardest part of becoming a guy?
Facing the world without any mascara! Not only that, but when we went through blocking, I’d be wearing fake sideburns and eyebrows and a wig cap, so I looked like a crazed Olympian swimmer who was half-man, half-woman and looked, like, aging.
Did you ever go off set as a guy?
One day I went to Starbucks with my sideburns and eyebrows on, and I remember the cashier looking at me and then immediately averting her eyes. I sort of grunted, you know, “Keep the change!” I think maybe she just thought I had an abnormally large amount of facial hair.
Did you get any insight into the male psyche while making this movie?
I was talking to (an extra) one day when I was dressed as a girl, and he said, “You know, I like you better when you’re a guy.” And I was semi-offended. I said, “Why?!” And he said, “You talk to me more when you’re a guy.” So when I’m a guy, I’m stripped of my insecurities and I’m like, “Well, this is who I am.”
There’s a lot of kissing in this movie. How was that?
It was definitely strange. (Costar) Channing (Tatum)’s girlfriend was on set the day when we’re on the soccer field and we kiss. And she’s, like, in total direct eyeline. I’m like, “Channing, is there any way that your girlfriend could sort of step behind you, so I don’t have to look her dead in the eye?”
Did you ever work at a kissing booth, like your character does?
No, I never did. I was never the cool kid. I had horrible acne and had to go on Accutane. It was so hard on me. It kept me from wanting to go up to people, because I was so insecure. I never belonged to any group. I was never really popular.
Are you seeing anyone now?
No. I feel like I’ll meet someone when I’m supposed to - hopefully someone who thinks I’m cute as a boy, too! I’m never attracted to the gorgeous guy. Jude Law? Yeah, he’s beautiful, but that’s not my type. I love when people are smart. My dad is a dentist and reads all the time, and is always talking to me about stuff in the paper. So I think I’m looking for someone to fill my dad’s shoes, and that’ll be hard. But I don’t want to get married yet - I just want to have fun!
It is taking three top names Jude Law, Johnny Depp and Colin Farrell - to step into Heath Ledger’s final role, in the unfinished movie The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, according to a rep for Law.
Speaking to the BBC, Law’s spokeswoman confirmed that the three actors would play Ledger’s role of Tony. She was unaware, however, as to how the part would be restructured in the film, which deals with magic.
Ledger, 28, was still shooting the $30-million movie, directed by Terry Gilliam and costarring Christopher Plummer, when he was found dead from an accidental overdose of prescription medicines on Jan. 22.
The weekend before Ledger’s death, he and Plummer had both completed the London portion of the movie’s shoot and were due to continue filming the following week in Vancouver, Canada. Production was suspended when the tragedy struck.
At the time the production left England, Plummer told PEOPLE, “Heath was in very high spirits. He was just enjoying himself tremendously. It’s a rather fanciful script, and he was wonderful in this role.”
She was a novice onscreen - and Jude Law has been around the block on-camera and off - but their lengthy smooch for My Blueberry Nights has become a hot view on YouTube.
“He’s fabulous,” said Jones of Law at The Cinema Society and IWC-sponsored premiere of the film in New York Wednesday night. “A great guy.”

“All I had to do was be passed out on the table,” added Jones. “Jude had to do this whole little dance. My eyes were closed, but it looks good on film. It was … not bad. I can’t imagine anyone better at kissing.”
scene didn’t require words. “I saw good chemistry between them,” the director said. “I told Jude, ‘When you’re playing tennis with a first timer, you have to be prepared for any scenario. And that will bring new energy to your work.’ The kiss is the first time that they physically touch. He has to be very precise. He has to get rid of the cream on her lips %26#91;from pie%26#93; and then kiss.”
“He’s very cute,” singer Chan Marshall, also known as Cat Power, who also
smooches Law in the film, told the audience at the Tribeca Grand Screening
room. “I kissed him first.”
“Well, I kissed him longer,” replied Jones.
Two of the late director Anthony Minghella’s most notable leading men, Jude Law and Ralph Fiennes, as well as his leading ladies, have expressed sadness and shock over the death of their friend and collaborator.
Minghella passed away at age 54 early Tuesday after suffering a fatal hemorrhage following surgery for cancer of the tonsils and neck, said his rep.
“I’m devastated, there is really no way to put it into words,” says Minghella’s Cold Mountain star Nicole Kidman, 40. “He was a gift to the world.”
Paltrow, who appeared in the director’s 1999 The Talented Mr. Ripley said, “He was very specific and very loving. He was very sweet to his actors. He would kind of massage everybody while he was talking - very tactile and warm.”
Said Law, also 35: “I am deeply shocked and saddened to hear of Anthony’s untimely death. I worked with him on three films, more than with any other director, but had come to value him more as a friend than as a colleague.”
Law worked with Minghella in the actor’s breakthrough role as murder victim Dickie Greenleaf in Mr. Ripley. He also was nominated for a Best Actor Oscar for his work in Minghella’s 2003 Cold Mountain and starred in the 2006 drama Breaking and Entering.
“He was a brilliantly talented writer and director who wrote dialogue that was a joy to speak and then put it onto the screen in a way that always looked effortless,” said Law. “He made work feel like fun. He was a sweet, warm, bright and funny man who was interested in everything from football to opera, films, music, literature, people and most of all his family whom he adored and to whom I send my thoughts and love. I shall miss him hugely.”
Fiennes, 45, who starred in Minghella’s Best Picture Oscar winner, 1996 The English Patient (which won nine Oscars in all, including Best Director), said he was “devastated and shocked to hear” of the filmmaker’s death.
“Anthony possessed a sensitivity and alertness to the actor’s process that very few directors have. He directed most of The English Patient with an ankle in plaster, never losing his gentle humor and precision. He delighted in the contribution of everyone - he was a true collaborator.”
In terms of Minghella’s output, Fiennes said, “His films deal with extreme aloneness and the redemptive power of love, even at the moment of death. I will remember him as a man who always wanted to get to the heart of the matter.”
Jude Law has a few words of advice for Matt Damon, PEOPLE’s 2007 Sexiest Man Alive.
“Keep up the good work, Matt,” Law said of his co-star in The Talented Mr. Ripley, at Sunday night’s London premiere of his new film Sleuth.
The 34-year-old flew to London especially for Sunday’s premiere: Law said he needed to be in Toronto the following morning to resume filming Repossession Mambo.
The film also is the reason Law snipped off his golden locks. Michael Caine, who also stars in Sleuth, jokingly told PEOPLE: “You won’t recognize him with the haircut.”
For Law’s part, he appeared to enjoy his new low-maintenance ‘do. “It’s very easy like this, I have to say,” Law told reporters, patting his short, clipped hair.
His hair wasn’t the only thing to change. Law looked exceedingly fit and admitted that he had been working out for his new film. His fitness regime is “quite intense,” he said.
Kate Moss is no stranger to catwalks, but is she planning to strut down a different sort of aisle?
“They are very, very happy,” Sadie Frost tells PEOPLE of her good friend Moss, 34, and her rocker beau Jamie Hince.
But Frost, the ex-wife of Jude Law doesn’t seem convinced by recent tabloid reports that the supermodel and Kills guitarist are planning to get hitched.
“I really have no idea,” Frost said at an east London MySpace party for her new horror flick Beyond the Rave. “I don’t know, people just make this stuff up anyways.”
Frost also said that her 11-year-old son Rafferty is already taking after his famous father. He “looks like Jude,” she said - so much so, that he’s playing a “young Jude” in Law’s upcoming film Repossession Mambo.
Now both Frost and Law are encouraging their son’s thespian ambitions, but not at the expense of his schoolwork.
“He is very interested in acting,” she said. “You should encourage your kids in what they want to do. He still needs to study, but I would never hold him back. When he’s out of school, he can decide whether or not he wants to go his own way.”
