• Nicole Richie, stepping onto the breezy patio at
West Hollywood’s Chateau Marmont for a night out with friends. The starlet
first stopped to greet a couple who were dining in the corner, then headed
toward her table to meet two male companions.
Sporting a flowing peasant dress and a braided leather headwrap, Richie sat
and sipped on water for much of her low-key evening, sharing what appeared to
be a meeting, but smiling and laughing with her friends nonetheless.
• Ashley Olsen, beating her friends to lunch at
L.A.’s Orso. The actress patiently waited, ordering water until her female
lunch dates arrived. “It was a very mellow lunch with a couple of pals,” a
fellow diner tells us. After her meal, Olsen met up with her beau Justin Bartha for a stroll around town.
• Nicollette Sheridan, getting friendly with David Spade at the opening of Beverly Hills eatery Luau. The newly single
Desperate Housewives actress holed up on the patio with the
funnyman for most of the night after arriving at the opening together. When
checking in, Spade referred to himself as Sheridan’s “plus one.” The two
then settled into their booth and seemed deep in conversation, not so much
flirty, an onlooker describes, but “intimate.” The pair stopped to chat with
the owner and Gary Shandling, but otherwise stayed focused on each
other.
• DJ AM, working hard at Las Vegas’s Pure Nightclub. Just after midnight,
the deejay got behind the turntables, causing clubgoers to roar with
excitement and snap photos of the recovering entertainer.
• Also in Sin City: Katharine McPhee, treating her
dancers to dinner at LAVO inside the Palazzo. In town for a private show,
the group started their evening with plenty of food - including grilled
beef kabob and chocolate bread pudding - before taking their party
upstairs to the nightclub.
• Where else would The Hills hottie Doug Reinhardt celebrate his birthday? West Hollywood’s Coco de Ville, of
course, where his buddy Frankie Delgado is a weekly promoter. The
reality star lived it up for his 24th with Delgado, pal
Brody Jenner and about 20 ladies by his side. The
birthday boy was having a good time, jumping all over the place and getting
friendly with his female guests. He even took off his plaid top by the end
of the night, walking around sans shirt before a huge group of his friends
jumped into a limo to continue the party at Reinhardt’s house.

Katharine McPhee channels her inner sorority girl in her latest video, “I Know What Boys Like,” the first single from The House Bunny soundtrack.
McPhee, 24, puts a twist on the ’80s hit, sashaying in the video alongside sorority sister costars in the film, Emma Stone, Rumer Willis and Kat Dennings. The singer has long had acting ambitions before her Idol fame.
The comedy, which also stars Anna Faris as a Playboy bunny who mentors an awkward sorority, hits theaters Aug. 22.
The film’s cast is set to appear on TRL Wednesday.

Katharine McPhee has always wanted to act - and now she’ll finally get a chance, in a new comedy from Adam Sandler’s Happy Madison Productions.
According to EW.com, McPhee, 23, will costar with Anna Faris in the untitled movie, in which Faris plays a Playboy bunny evicted from Hugh Hefner’s mansion.
She then takes on the role of den mother to the “lamest” sorority at a local college. McPhee will play a member of the sorority.
McPhee has long had acting ambitions: Pre-Idol, she dropped out of the Boston Conservatory during her sophomore year to audition for television pilots in her native L.A. And in January, she had a cameo on ABC’s Ugly Betty.
But she’s got some impressive footsteps in which to follow. Fellow Idol alum Fantasia Barrino is earning raves in Broadway’s The Color Purple, and Jennifer Hudson won an Oscar for her movie debut in last year’s Dreamgirls.
Paris Bennett is out, while Chris Daughtry, Taylor Hicks, Katharine McPhee and Elliot Yamin are still standing on American Idol.
On Wednesday night’s show, Ryan Seacrest told Bennett, 17, of Fayetteville, Ga., that she’d drawn the least number of votes among the nearly 46 million cast.
I love you,” Bennett told her family in the audience, including her grandmother, Grammy-winning gospel singer Ann Nesby.
The other member of the bottom two was Yamin.
On Tuesday night, Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul had praised Bennett’s funky rendition of Prince’s 1988 hit “Kiss,” though Simon Cowell considered it “screechy” and “annoying.” Bennett fared better with her second performance, a cover of Mary J. Blige’s “Be Without You.” “I think she did rather well with that,” Cowell admitted.
Of Yamin’s delivery of “On Broadway” on Tuesday’s show, Cowell found it “disjointed.” Cowell also said he was “just a little bit concerned” following Yamin’s cover of Michael Buble’s “Home.” “I’m not sure I would have chosen the lyrics, ‘I want to go home,’ ” Cowell pointedly advised the 27-year-old.
In other Idol news, American Idol Season 5 Encores, a compilation CD of songs by this season’s top 12, will be released May 23.
Songs on the disc will include Chris Daughtry’s take on Bon Jovi’s “Wanted Dead or Alive,” Kellie Pickler’s version of Patsy Cline’s “Walkin’ After Midnight,” Taylor Hicks’s cover of the Doobie Brothers’ “Takin’ It to the Streets,” Paris Bennett’s update of Gladys Knight %26 the Pips’ “Midnight Train to Georgia” and Kevin Covais’s cover of Nat King Cole’s “When I Fall in Love.”
After tying the knot last month in Beverly Hills, singer-actress Katharine McPhee shares details in the new, spring issue of InStyle Weddings about the ceremony when she married producer Nick Cokas - and offers advice to other brides.
The American Idol season-five runner-up’s tip: “Remember that it’s your wedding … At the end of the day, it’s really about the expression of commitment in love and marriage. So don’t get too carried away. A wedding is about the commitment of love that you’re making to your partner. It’s that simple.”
So is the look a bride should seek. “Sometimes you look at bridal magazines and you’re like, ‘What is that concoction? Why is her hair piled on top of her head?’ You should look like yourself!”
And be yourself, especially on your honeymoon. Hers was in Hawaii, where she was determined to take up surfing, “I’m not much of a lay-on-the-beach kind of girl,” says McPhee, 23. “I want to be in the ocean.”
Katharine McPhee gets a hand from her hubby Nick Cokas while taking a stroll during their Hawaiian honeymoon on Monday.
The 23-year-old singer-actress and producer Cokas, 42, were married on Saturday in Beverly Hills before heading to the tropical getaway of Oahu. Romance wasn’t the only thing on McPhee’s mind as she was spotted shopping at the local Gucci store - but they couple did stop for a post-purchase hug.
“%26#91;Nick%26#93; is the love of my life,” McPhee gushed to PEOPLE about her wedding. “This is a once in a lifetime occasion and everything is just perfect.”
