Mariah Carey will perform at the American Music Awards later this month, PEOPLE has learned.

Carey joins previously announced performers: the Jonas Brothers, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Ne-Yo, Pink, the Pussycat Dolls and the reunited New Kids on the Block.

Paris Hilton, Kate Walsh and Akon will also be presenters at the telecast, which airs live on ABC on Nov. 23.

Tickets to the telecast, which will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel from the Nokia Theater LA Live!, are still available to the public.

She may have notched a World Music Award, but Mariah Carey had another very important thing on her mind last night - her husband of six months, Nick Cannon.

“It’s a blessing to live this life. Thanks to the fans and for the 18 number one singles I’ve had,” Carey, 39, told the crowd after receving a special achievement honor from presenter Alicia Keys. “Special shout to my husband and best friend Nick, I love you.”

The show opened with a high-energy performance by Beyoncé. Wearing black leather pants and a white blouse, she brought the crowd to their feet by performing a medley of her tunes. Later in the evening, she won an award for outstanding contribution to the arts.

The big winner of the night was U.K. band Coldplay, who were crowned the best selling recording act.

Estelle, the singer of “American Boy” and winner of best new R%26B act, told PEOPLE, “I have no American Boy in my life but I wish I had.”

Other winners included Leona Lewis for both new artist and pop female artist and Kid Rock for pop male artist. Troubled singer Amy Winehouse took home the award for pop/rock female.

Taking to the Sporting Club stage, Beyonce Knowles performed “Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)” to kick off the 2008 World Music Awards in Monte Carlo, Monaco on Sunday (November 9).

Hosted by singer Michelle Williams and actor Jesse Metcalfe, Beyonce was amongst a list of top performers including former WMA winner Mariah Carey, as well as Alicia Keys and Kid Rock, among others.

As for the night’s big winners, British band Coldplay were dubbed the world’s top-selling act of 2008 as well as the WMA’s rock act of the year.

Reuters reports tell that the female pop award went to Britain’s Leona Lewis, while the male pop category was won by U.S. singer Kid Rock. Meanwhile, Amy Winehouse was named female pop/rock act of the year.

Other winners included Alicia Keys, who snatched up world’s best R&B category, while Lil Wayne was named world’s top hip-hop/rap artist.

Always up for a swanky night out, Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon were spotted looking blissfully in love at the World Music Awards in Monaco over the weekend.

The “Touch My Body” songstress and her hunky hubby were happy to pose for the paparazzi, with Carey looking sexy in a cleavage-baring red dress while Nick opted for a white tuxedo with a black bowtie.

And though she loves to sing seductively in her hit songs, it seems Mariah decided to wait until she was married to Nick to go all the way.

She told press, “It’s not that we had no intimacy, we just didn’t have complete intimacy. It’s just me, and my feelings. I definitely don’t want to push it on anybody else. But we both have similar beliefs, and I just thought that it would be so much more special if we waited until after we were married. And it was, and it still is.”

They were spotted landing at Heathrow International Airport earlier today, and this afternoon Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon greeted fans outside London’s Dorchester Hotel.

The “Touch My Body” songstress and her hunky hubby looked blissful as the smiled and waved to fans, taking a moment to pose for the paparazzi before going on their way.

And with the American Presidential Election just having taken place, it seems Carey played a special role, unbeknownst to her - Michelle Obama played “Hero” to her husband Barack just prior to the announcement of his victory.

A pal of the singer told press, “She was blown away when she heard. She is so honored to have played her part in such an occasion.”

The “Always Be My Baby” songstress and her hunky husband celebrated their six-month anniversary with some close friends at an exclusive Halloween Eve costume party at Marquee nightclub in New York City.

And both Carey and Cannon went as firefighters, although Mariah decidedly added a little steam to her costume with a push-up bra, sexy red stockings, and lace-up black boots.

The party was reportedly nothing short of amazing with its multi-tiered cake, pumpkin carving activities and top-shelf cocktails provided by Ciroc.
