TV father knows best - at least when it comes to approving boyfriends.
As Full House’s Danny Tanner, Bob Saget, along with the rest of America, watched Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen grow up in the shared role of his youngest daughter, Michelle Tanner.
These days the wildly successful 22-year-old twins make headlines for their fashion sense and their boyfriend choices. Mary-Kate has been dating N.Y.C. artist Nate Lowman, 29, for 10 months, while Ashley has been seeing National Treasure actor Justin Bartha, 30, for 5 months.
“I approve of anyone that makes my friends happy, and they’re my friends,” Saget, 52, told PEOPLE at “Cool Comedy, Hot Cuisine,” a benefit for the Scleroderma Research Fund at Caroline’s in New York on Tuesday. “I am protective of the people I love.”
Saget’s former costars have shown equal support for his adventures in dating. “They’ve approved of my girlfriends,” he said.

Enjoying a leisurely afternoon in New York City, Mary-Kate Olsen was spotted having lunch with her boyfriend Nate Lowman earlier today (November 6).
The “Full House” cutie seemed undisturbed by the shutterbugs snapping pics of their rendezvous, as she chatted with her beau (and on her mobile phone) sporting a dark coat, grey scarf, and dark trousers.
Speaking of her unique style, Olsen recently told press that her sloppy bohemian way of dressing herself isn’t some brilliant fashion sense, but rather the result of laziness.
She revealed, “For me it was laziness. I wore my pajamas and threw on whatever was warm enough. It still amazes me. It’s just layers and it doesn’t make any sense to me at all.”

Want to date an Olsen? You’ll have to also impress her twin.
The famous sisters, 22, tell Oprah Winfrey that they have a say in each other’s relationships - at least to some extent.
“I just support her,” Mary-Kate Olsen says about twin sister Ashley in a new Oprah Winfrey Show interview set to air Thursday. “If she doesn’t like him, I won’t like him. If she likes him, I’ll like him.”
One guy who has likely made a good impression on Mary-Kate? Ashley’s current beau Justin Bartha, with whom she was recently spotted cozying up during an intimate dinner in L.A.
“We respect each other’s decisions,” adds Ashley.
Has it always been that way? Says Mary-Kate, “pretty much.”

Ultimately they were reunited and sat next to each other, knees touching, at the same dinner table, where they sampled the dim sum. And SNL star Andy Samberg spent time with his musician girlfriend Joanna Newsom at the party.

and enjoy herself after the show.

Longtime friends Julia Roberts and Dave Matthews joined forces Wednesday night at the sold-out Stand Up For a Cure concert at Madison Square Garden to benefit lung cancer research.
The singer - who said he was just 10 years old when his father died of lung cancer - movingly told the audience, “One day, we hopefully won’t need to have events like this.”
Roberts started the night off by introducing her good pal and his band to the raucous New York fans: “I cannot tell you how excited I am to be in the greatest city in the world to introduce one of the greatest bands of the world!”
A whole host of celebs came out to support the charity event, including Mary-Kate Olsen, Gossip Girl’s Chace Crawford and Lindsay Lohan (who got to the Garden at 6 p.m. to watch girlfriend Samantha Ronson DJ for the pre-party).

Mary-Kate Olsen doesn’t know where Heath Ledger got the drugs that killed him, and has already provided investigators with “relevant information,” her lawyer says in a statement.
“Despite tabloid speculation, Mary-Kate Olsen had nothing whatsoever to do with the drugs found in Heath Ledger’s home or his body, and she does not know where he obtained them,” said the statement from attorney Michael C. Miller on Monday.
The statement was released following a report, confirmed by PEOPLE, that Olsen, 22, wants immunity from prosecution before she will cooperate with a federal investigation into close friend Ledger’s death from an accidental overdose.
“Regarding the government’s investigation, at Ms. Olsen’s request, we have provided the government with relevant information including facts in the chronology of events surrounding Mr. Ledger’s death and the fact that Ms. Olsen does not know the source of the drugs Mr. Ledger consumed,” the statement from her attorney continues.
The statement concludes: “We don’t know the source of the information being quoted in the media regarding the government’s inquiry, but these descriptions are incomplete and inaccurate.”
