With her relationship with Tony Romo approaching the one-year mark, Jessica Simpson is gaining some perspective on her life and loves.

“I’d always fall for guys I wanted to save,” the singer, 28, tells Cosmopolitan for its December issue (on sale Nov. 11). “For the first time, I fell in love with someone who saved me.”

As for where the road with Romo, also 28, may take her, Simpson says, “I think any person who I’m gonna date for longer than six months, I definitely am investing in something long-term. If I get married again, then it will be the last time.”

From 2002 to 2005, Simpson was married to Nick Lachey, who, she says, “will always be a part of my life, but next time, I’m marrying the right one.”

Luckily for Vanessa Minnillo, life doesn’t always imitate art.

Case in point? In Disaster Movie, hitting theaters Friday, Minnillo’s cheerleader character just can’t get her boyfriend to say “I love you.”

“He just can’t drop the L-word,” Minnillo, 27, tells PEOPLE of her character’s commitment-challenged boyfriend. “And what a girl wants more than anything in the world is for their boyfriend to say ‘I love you.’ ”

But, says Minnillo, her real-life beau Nick Lachey, 34, doesn’t have any similar hang-ups: “The L-word is not thrown around by men as easily as it is by women - but I didn’t say it first! He’s very loving. We’re very open and vocal.”

While Minnillo and Lachey may be in sync when it comes to their love for each other, their attempt to exercise together is not so harmonious.

“We used to work out together, but we stopped,” says Minnillo, laughing. “We’re doing different things. And the guy runs forever! Like, I swear, he’s running 11 miles a day. I can’t run. That’s the one thing I can’t do, because I feel like the further I jog away from my house, the further I have to jog back!”

near the sushi bar.

• Rosario Dawson and boyfriend Mathieu Schreyer, lounging during a getaway at the LG Villa Cabo in Mexico. The couple didn’t

stray far from the water while vacationing in Cabo San Lucas. “%26#91;There was%26#93; a lot of surfing and boogie boarding,” a source tells

us. The two also ventured into the hot tub and shared a barbecue feast while watching the sunset. How romantic! “Rosario and Mathieu were swimming

together a ton and took time to take a walk on the beach, just the two of them,” the source says.

Jessica Simpson’s country music career is just kicking off, but she already has plenty of material for songs about bad boys, heartbreak and a romantic Cowboy.

Promoting her new album, Do You Know, in the September issue of Elle, Simpson, 28, says she has found happiness with her Dallas Cowboys quarterback boyfriend Tony Romo, 27, but admits the journey wasn’t easy.

“I was going through a lot of pain,” she says of life after her split from ex-husband Nick Lachey, 34, in 2005. “I didn’t try anything to change my life other than dating different types of guys and conforming to their worlds. I thought I had to be artsier, more intellectual.”

“John believed in the Jessica Simpson that’s within,” she tells the magazine. “He cherished our love. He helped make me the woman I am today. John is going to be an amazing man for someone, but I know that I was supposed to be with someone else.”

Simpson says Romo is different from all of her exes. “Most of the guys I dated were captivated by my heart but they had different ways of trying to get to me. Tony understands me. He appreciates my talent. He’s the first person I’ve spiritually connected with. I’m a girl that loves to be in love,” she gushes. “I love love!”

Still, not all of her tunes are happy ones: “Remember That” is about an abusive relationship. “There’s nothing on my album that you’re gonna hear that I don’t relate to or that I haven’t experienced,” she says. “Because the only way I know how to sing is from life experience. I don’t want to talk about it, but I have definitely experienced abuse in a way that I would tell people to take their heart and run.”

But things are good with Romo. While performing at a recent country music festival, she dedicated her new song “You’re My Sunday” to the QB, who is supportive of her new musical direction. “It’s the cutest thing,” she says. “He’ll say, ‘Jessica, 75 percent of the comments about your new single %26#91;’Come On Over’%26#93; are favorable.’”

The 14-year-old Lohan says the sound of her upcoming album is different from fellow teen star Miley Cyrus: “She’s really good,” Ali tells PEOPLE. “But I have different music than her. It’s a different vibe - it’s definitely a different vibe. Mine is more hip-hop. Kind of like Rihanna.”

“All The Way Around,” recorded at the Maloof Music recording studio at The Palms Hotel in Las Vegas, was produced by Emanuel “Eman” Kiriakou, who’s worked with Nick Lachey and Jordin Sparks. It was co-written by Kara DioGuardi, who was named BMI’s Pop Songwriter of the Year in 2007.

And what about a duet with Lindsay? “I think that would be awesome,” Ali tells PEOPLE. “We talked about it.”

Ali’s not the only Lohan with a single ready to shake up the clubs this summer. In May, Lindsay premiered her track: “Bossy.”

there to film Hilton’s reality show, but definitely made time to party when

her work was finished.

• Before heading to the Hamptons to film Gossip Girl,Blake Lively and Penn Badgley played bingo with

a friend at Tortilla Flats in New York’s West Village. The couple came in,

ate some tacos, chips and salsa, and played a round of bingo with their

friends.

• James McAvoy, staying cozy under the stars in Westwood,

Calif., with wife Anne-Marie Duff, following the L.A. premiere of his

action film, Wanted. The couple swigged Jameson at the

Jessica Simpson and Eva Longoria share the same hairstylist - Ken Paves - and now they’ll be sharing screen time. The new pals are teaming up to costar in Simpson’s video for her song “Public Affair.” “We haven’t shot it yet. I just know I have to show up Friday somewhere. We’re going to be roller-skating and I know there’s an ’80s theme,” Longoria told us at the recent T-Mobile Sidekick 3 launch party, where she chilled with the singer. Also on hand at the Hollywood bash: former Nick Lachey flames Kim Kardashian and Kristin Cavallari.

A few days earlier, Simpson went back to her home state to hang out with her other girls - mom Tina and sister Ashlee, who was performing in Dallas. They celebrated a friend’s birthday at the Hotel ZaZa’s chic Dragonfly restaurant and went to the club Urban Oasis, where they sat in a VIP area and sipped champagne while chowing down on french fries with ranch dressing.

Getting ‘Lost’

Before she begins filming the new season of Lost in August, Evangeline Lilly plans to hit the road - preferably to a spot where she’s unrecognizable. “I don’t know where I want to go - Mongolia or Timbuktu. Someplace where they don’t watch Lost!” she told us at a party thrown in her honor by footwear designer Michelle K (the actress is the new spokesmodel for her shoe company) at L.A. store Kitson. “You never know though - they’ve caught Lost mania in so many countries you wouldn’t expect. Africa, Asia, Russia, all over the place.” No word on whether beau and costar Dominic Monaghan will be hitching a ride with her.

During her appointment, the actress chatted with some out-of-town visitors. “She talked to two women from North Carolina for an hour,” says an observer. “They were telling her how much they loved her in Chicago. She was so gracious and friendly.”

The actress ordered salmon, which was brought out immediately, and had a

glass of white wine while doing some business on the phone.

with some Chardonnay at Asia de Cuba at the Mondrian Hotel in West

Hollywood. The pop star dined with friends and ate a noodle box and chicken

skewers.

• Vince Vaughn and buddy Tom Morello (of

the bands Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave), sharing dinner, a show, then breakfast in West Hollywood. After dining at the Rainbow Room, the guys ventured next door to Key Club to see the band Steel Panther - the band formerly known as Metal Skool - perform. An onlooker tells us that the guys and the ladies they were with were “totally rocking out at a table.” Following the musical mayhem, the group went to an IHOP in Santa Monica,

Jessica Simpson has gone country - and plans to stay there, the singer tells The Tennessean.

“I’m planning on making country %26#91;music%26#93; for the rest of my life, and I don’t want to go back to that other world,” says Simpson, 27. Her latest foray into the country scene has given Simpson a boost in success - and confidence.

After the breakup of Simpson’s marriage to Nick Lachey - and a very public flub of Dolly Parton’s “Nine to Five” at the Kennedy Center Honors in 2006 - Simpson says she was scared to sing onstage.

“I was going through a heartbreak, and I was scattered and shouldn’t have been on that stage,” she tells the newspaper. “There’s no way to convince anybody that you’re comfortable onstage if you’re not.” But after stepping into the studio to record a country song, she declared: “I’m back!”

Simpson says she’s gotten begrudging compliments on the song and has high expectations for her album, due to be released this September. “A lot of people have listened to ‘Come On Over’ and told me, ‘I really wanted to hate it, but I like it,’” she said. ”%26#91;It’s%26#93; a backhanded compliment, but I’m glad it’s that way and not the other way around,”

Adds the singer: “I take a lot of pride in my talent and in the record I was able to put together. I’m not giving up.”
