Stopping at his local gas station for a quick fill-up, Ryan Phillippe was spotted looking hunky yesterday (November 16).

The “Cruel Intentions” actor showed off his buff physique and several tattoos in a white tank top with green camouflage cargo shorts and a black ball cap.

Reese Witherspoon will be sharing custody of their son Deacon and daughter Ava.

Reese told press, “I think the most important thing is to be a grownup, and not let any kind of feelings affect how you deal with your children. I’m very lucky in that we raise our kids to just be happy. I think the most important thing is the children. What do they want, what makes them feel comfortable?”

As the holidays approach, Reese Witherspoon faces a dilemma familiar to countless divorced parents - how to share custody of her young children on those special days.

“I think the most important thing is to be a grownup,” she says, “and not let any kind of feelings affect how you deal with your children.”

For the mother-of-two - who finalized her divorce from Ryan Phillippe in June - that means having “a lot of communication” with her ex-husband and “just being very open.”

Parenting Skills

In the film, Witherspoon plays the daughter of divorced parents who, at first, lacks any parenting skills. Could Witherspoon relate?

“When I first held my baby, Ava, %26#91;that%26#93; was the first time I’d ever held a baby in my life,” she said. “So I understand that sort of fear or not being a good mom. It took me a long time to feel really comfortable in the role of being a mother.” (In addition to Ava, now 9, Witherspoon and Phillippe also have a son, Deacon, 5.)

As for marriage, “I %26#91;had%26#93; a certain idea what I thought marriage gives,” says the actress - who’s now dating Jake Gyllenhaal, 27. But “sometimes it doesn’t work out that way so you have to be open to whatever comes your way in life. … Love and relationships take all kinds of shapes and it’s not necessarily the ones you recognize.”

So, would she ever get married again? “I don’t know,” she says, laughing. “I don’t think about it much.”

Enjoying an evening on the town, Ryan Phillippe and his girlfriend Abbie Cornish were spotted out at the Highland Night Club at the Kodak Center in Los Angeles on Sunday (November 9).

The cute couple were there to attend The Behind the Camera Awards, leaving hand-in-hand following the night’s affairs - during which they mingled with fellow attendees including Evan Rachel Wood and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, among others.

Doing his part as an active American citizen, Ryan Phillippe headed out to take part in the Presidential election being held on Tuesday (November 4).

According to an eyewitness, the “Crash” hunk was spotted walking into his local polling station where he spent about 30 minutes waiting to vote.

Reportedly in high spirits, Ryan was asked who he voted for, to which he replied, “Who do you think?,” before explaining that he had been campaigning for Obama over the weekend in Missouri.

Continuing to dish on his personal positions, Phillippe also said that he voted “No” on Prop 8, which is the legislation that is trying to ban gay marriage, and that he voted “Yes” on Prop 2, which would help protect farmed caged chickens.

• Elton John, celebrating husband David Furnish’s birthday at Las Vegas’s Hard Rock Hotel %26 Casino’s pool. The pair partied at the Palapa hut with celeb pals including Gina Gershon, and when the party ended, the revelers left the hotel, piling into private buses and limos.

• Johnathon Schaech, celebrating the release of his horror film Quarantine at TAO Las Vegas with the movie’s producers and girlfriend Jana Kramer, who had just arrived from Los Angeles. The group sat by the restaurant’s signature buddha statue, and enjoyed their dinner before heading upstairs to continue their festivities.

• Chelsea Handler, hanging close to boyfriend Ted Harbert at the GREEN FOR GOOD Women’s Health cocktail party by the pool at L.A.’s Sunset Tower Hotel. Arriving in Las Vegas late Wednesday night, Ryan Phillippe and his Stop Loss costar and girlfriend Abbie Cornish hunkered down in a one-bedroom suite at The Palazzo Resort Hotel Casino as the couple celebrated Cornish’s turning 26 - with Phillippe seemingly determined to make this her best birthday ever.

Starting the day lounging in a private cabana at Tao Beach, the duo dined on sushi and fruit before heading to the Canyon Ranch Spa for even more relaxation.

After taking in Cirque Du Soleil’s O at Bellagio, Phillippe and Cornish were spotted walking hand in hand to dinner at an intimate corner table at Tao Las Vegas, where they were seen snuggling and kissing throughout the meal.

And there was more, with Phillippe leading the birthday girl to a VIP skybox at Tao’s nightclub that overlooked the main dance floor. Sipping Grey Goose cocktails, the duo danced - and kissed - the night away, except for the moment when Cornish unbuttoned Phillippe’s shirt and started pouring ice down his chest.

“They really are cute together,” a source said.

Five months after announcing her split from husband Ryan Phillippe, Reese Witherspoon seems to be wading back into the dating pool - with Jake Gyllenhaal, her costar in the upcoming CIA thriller Rendition.

Although the two have been careful to avoid the spotlight, they were spotted March 23 dining with two other couples at L.A.’s Il Sole. “They were cuddling,” an observer tells PEOPLE in its new issue. “It looked very playful.”

And now friends of both say the relationship extends beyond the occasional dinner. “In the last month, they’ve been spending a lot more time together,” says a source close to Gyllenhaal, adding that the actor has even met up with Witherspoon, 31, and her kids - daughter Ava, 7, and son Deacon, 3 - in New York City. At 26, he is five years her junior, but “Jake really likes her and isn’t at all concerned that she has two kids.”

Gyllenhaal’s rep had no comment. Witherspoon’s rep did not return calls.

Still, Witherspoon isn’t rushing into another high-profile Hollywood relationship, says a source close to the Oscar winner. “%26#91;Reese%26#93; is still very, very hurt by Ryan and it will take a long time to get over that,” the source explains. “%26#91;But she and Jake%26#93; have a mutual interest. They are taking it slow and getting to know each other.”

One common point may be their homebody lifestyles. Family-first Witherspoon routinely picks up her kids from school and takes Ava for mommy-and-me manicures. As for Gyllenhaal - who’s uncle to sister Maggie’s 6-month-old daughter Ramona and godfather to Heath Ledger’s 17-month-old Matilda - he’s “very into kids,” says a source.

Although he dated nightlife-loving Kirsten Dunst for nearly two years, “Jake has never been about staying out late partying,” the insider adds. “This is what he wants.”
