After dating for more than a year, Scarlett Johansson is set to marry her boyfriend Ryan Reynolds, PEOPLE has learned exclusively.
“They’re both thrilled,” Johansson’s rep Marcel Pariseau tells PEOPLE.
Reynolds, 31, currently filming the aptly named The Proposal in Boston with Sandra Bullock, recently popped the question to Johansson, 23. The couple have not set a wedding date.
The Nanny Diaries star is expected to show off her sparkler at Monday night’s Metropolitan Museum Costume Institute Gala in New York. Sources say Johansson is eager to “show off her rock” with her Dolce %26 Gabbana gown.
Mutual pal and Wolverine costar Hugh Jackman recently revealed he is protective of Johansson (they bonded working on 2006’s Scoop and The Prestige) and gave Reynolds his blessing, calling him “one of the funniest guys I’ve ever met … He’s phenomenal.”

Keanu Reeves, a self-described “vagabond,” is ready to settle down, he says - and that includes having a family.
“I’m trying not to be alone so much,” the actor, 41, who costars with Sandra Bullock in this summer’s The Lake House, tells Parade magazine in its June 11 issue. “And man, it’s a struggle. I want to get married. I want to have kids. That’s at the top of the mountain. I’ve got to climb the mountain first. I’ll do it. Just give me some time.”
In the interview, Reeves talks about his father, who abandoned the family when Reeves was a toddler, and his much-married mother, who moved the family numerous times - a lifestyle Reeves adopted himself.
“I’ve had a vagabond life,” he says. “There is a bit of the gypsy in me, and living that way seemed to make sense. I couldn’t settle down. I liked going to new places - renting apartments, staying in hotels. Then I turned 40. That birthday is hard, perhaps because you know you’re grown-up. So now it’s a makeover for me. I have bought my first house. I wanted a home.”
Reeves has faced a number of tragedies in his life. His best friend, River Phoenix, died of a drug overdose in 1993 at the age of 23, and Reeves’s sister, Kim, 39, is battling leukemia.
He also talks about his late girlfriend Jennifer Syme, whom he met in 1998 and who later gave birth to their stillborn baby daughter. Reeves and Syme remained best friends until April 2001, when Syme died in a car crash.
“Damn it! It’s not fair! It’s absurd,” Reeves tells the magazine. “Grief changes shape, but it never ends. People have a misconception that you can deal with it and say, ‘It’s gone, and I’m better.’ They’re wrong. When the people you love are gone, you’re alone.”
He goes on to say, “I miss being a part of their lives and them being a part of mine. I wonder what the present would be like if they were here - what we might have done together. I miss all the great things that will never be.”
Celebrity makeup artist Billy B had a surprise volunteer to model for his beauty seminar in Atlanta over the weekend: Paula Abdul.
“She slipped in the back of the class unnoticed, and when I said I’d like to introduce my model, people’s jaws dropped to the floor,” Billy B told PEOPLE. “I had heard through the grapevine that Paula was interested in working with me, but we had not been able to connect” - until now.
Abdul was in Atlanta for America Idol auditions when she read that Billy B’s American Beauty Tour was going to be at the W Atlanta Perimeter Hotel during the same weekend. Billy B has worked with stars such as Sandra Bullock, Sharon Stone, Kate Winslet and Mariah Carey.
“I got an e-mail saying that Paula Abdul was looking for me, and, of course I thought it was a joke,” Billy B said. “But I called back and indeed, it was not a joke. I was flattered, obviously. I spoke to Paula and she said, ‘I want to be your model.’ I was like, ‘Really?’ She said, ‘Yes, I think it’ll be fun.’ I said, ‘Are you sure you won’t mind, because there will be 30 people in the class.’ ”
In fact, Billy B said, the Idol judge turned out to be an attentive model and student. “She was trying to keep track of what I was using, and how I was applying it,” he said. “She would actually get up and show the other women at the seminar what I was doing - how the eyeliner looked, that sort of thing.”
The makeup guru added, “She has gorgeous skin. She’s a girly girl - she loves makeup - so it was really fun to work with her.”
A spokesman for Adbul told PEOPLE: “She really had a great time. She said it was a lot of fun.”
According to Billy B Abdul was “charming and sweet and very accessible and normal to everyone” - even when it came to photos. Billy B requested that seminar-goers refrain from taking pictures of the unmade-up Abdul or of the makeover process, but Abdul didn’t hesitate to pose when he was done.
“When I’m speaking I find it very distracting when people are taking pictures,” he said. “Paula took photos with everyone there. She signed autographs, she stayed the entire time.”

Lucille Gatchell, the 64-year-old alleged drunk driver from Gloucester, Mass., who hit Sandra Bullock and Jesse James Friday night, was arraigned Tuesday in District Court.
She was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and a marked lanes violation. No one was injured in the accident.
Gatchell will appear again in court for a pre-trial hearing on June 6.
Actress Sandra Bullock and her husband, Jesse James, were hit by a drunk driver last night while riding in a private car in Gloucester, Mass., PEOPLE has learned.
Bullock, who is filming The Proposal on Cape Ann, and James, of Monster Garage fame, were being driven home for the evening around 9:50 p.m. Friday when a gray Subaru station wagon jumped lanes on East Main Street and smashed into their front end, police said. No one was injured.
“They were shaken up, needless to say,” said Gloucester Police Lt. Gerry Cook. “But they were fine - he was hugging her. Jess and Sandra were hugging. They said they were fine, they didn’t need medical attention. There were quite a few people snapping pictures of them.” The two walked away from the accident and were not even examined, he said.
She was arrested, taken to the station, and booked on driving under the influence of alcohol and failure to stay in marked lanes. She was released on her own recognizance and will be arraigned on the charges Tuesday.
Cook said Gatchell didn’t know who she hit, until the arresting officer told her, as he drove her to the station. “And then she started laughing, she was really giddy,” he said.
Reached by phone Saturday morning, Gatchell declined to comment, politely saying “no” to a Boston Herald reporter, whose paper originally reported the crash story.
“It’s unfortunate,” Cook told the Herald. “But it shows you that no one is immune from drunk drivers, no matter how famous you are.”
