• How do you unwind in Beijing if you’re eight-time gold-medalist Michael Phelps? You have drinks by the pool - not in it! The
Olympian turned up at Beijing’s Club Bud, the multi-level nightclub in the
Chaoyang district designed by Anheuser-Busch, and spent the night in
poolside cabanas along with fellow team members Ryan Lochte, Matt Grevers and Natalie Coughlin. Of course, they didn’t go unnoticed - fans asked Phelps to pose for photos, and he didn’t seem to mind. “A lot of people wanted to get close to him,” says the guest. “But he looked pretty happy to
hang out with everyone.”
• The day after she dined with Paul Rudd at Nobu,
Jennifer Aniston hit another New York landmark: the
Metropolitan Museum of Art. The actress walked around with an older man and
woman and headed toward the J.M.W. Turner special exhibition. “Everyone turned
and looked at her,” a source says. Before hitting the museum, the newly single actress was spotted in the Upper East Side as she shopped at Fred Leighton Rare
Collectible Jewels.
• Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson, making a change - to their hair color, at Neil George Salon in
Beverly Hills. “No more blonde highlights,” a source tells us of Lohan’s
look. Her girlfriend also went darker. The couple sat in the back and “were
pretty quiet and kept to themselves.”
• Ryan Seacrest, sharing what appeared to be a
business meeting at New York’s trendy Waverly Inn. The reality-TV host joined
four men in an oversized booth, eating a gigantic platter of oysters on the
half shell as an appetizer and delving deep in conversation.
• Sandra Oh, smiling big over the nude scene in
Hair: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical at Central Park’s
Delacorte Theater. She sat next to Top Chef’s Spike
Mendelsohn, who watched the hippies while eating an ice cream sandwich.

• New couple alert? Haylie Duff, partying with beau Brody Jenner and some friends (including Hilary Duff) at West Hollywood’s Hyde. The pair sat side-by-side, laughing and appearing to have a wonderful time. Soon, they split from the younger Duff and ventured outside to the patio where, an onlooker tells us, the two whispered into each other’s ears. A source says they’re close friends, but according to an onlooker, the pair was inseparable.
• And speaking of couples hanging out at Hyde: Adrian Grenier and his girlfriend were spotted partying at the West Hollywood hotspot. According to a fellow clubgoer, the couple cuddled at their table as they observed the crowd and the Entourage star sipped from a bottle of Sierra Nevada beer. While the actor greeted friends throughout the night, his girlfriend stuck by his side the whole time.
• Elton John just can’t resist a good bargain - well, by his standards, of course. The singer hit up the summer sales with hubby David Furnish around London’s glitzy Sloane Street. Two stops on the singer’s shopping itinerary: Chanel and Bottega Veneta. And an onlooker tells us: “He came out with piles and piles and piles of bags!”
• Grey’s Anatomy actress Sandra Oh and her musician boyfriend Andrew Featherston, slipping into a blue velvet booth at Hollywood’s Velvet Margarita Cantina for dinner. Wearing a long summer dress and braids in her hair, Oh snuggled up to her boyfriend as they both enjoyed a casual meal that included salads, chips and salsa.
• Sting and wife Trudie Styler, eating at Miami’s Blue Door at Delano not once, but twice, in the same week. Following the Police’s South Florida concert, the pair dined and danced up a storm! Then on his second visit, the rocker ate a mixed green salad with sea bass and was drinking Groth Sauvignon Blanc.

Friday’s Caught in the Act >
It was actors’ choice: The Lost and Desperate Housewives casts took top TV honors, while the cast of Crash claimed the major movie prize as actors honored their own at the 12th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday night.
Reese Witherspoon (Walk the Line) and Philip Seymour Hoffman (Capote) were named best movie actress and actor, respectively, and Desperate Housewife Felicity Huffman was singled out as lead in a comedy series. Sean Hayes, of Will %26 Grace, won as male lead in a comedy, while 24 star Kiefer Sutherland and Sandra Oh, of Grey’s Anatomy, were both named best actors in a drama series.
Oh was the first of the evening’s winners to be announced. “This is unbelievable,” exclaimed the actress, who plays Dr. Cristina Yang on the ABC medical series. She also acknowledged her show’s technical adviser, “who makes us all look like doctors, because we’re not,” and said she shares her award “with all the Asian-American actors out there … be encouraged.”
S. Epatha Merkerson won as best actress in a TV movie, for Lackawanna Blues, a feat she also pulled off at the Emmys and the Golden Globes. Choking up, she told the crowd inside Los Angeles’s Shrine Auditorium of her speech: “There’s nothing in my bra, there’s nothing in my head, it’s all in my heart.” But it wasn’t all tears. “I have to say a very public thank-you to my divorce lawyer,” she said, cracking up.
Paul Newman, who was a no-show because he is working (according to presenter William H. Macy), was named best actor in a TV miniseries for Empire Falls.
Came her time at the podium, Witherspoon said her parents thought she was crazy when she first told them that she wanted to become an actor - “They’re both doctors” - and she credited June Carter Cash, whom she plays onscreen, for being the real-life rock behind music legend Johnny Cash.
Leonardo DiCaprio could be a double winner at this year’s Screen Actors Guild Awards: His peers have nominated him as best leading actor in Blood Diamond and best supporting actor for The Departed, it was announced Thursday.
In contrast, he’ll compete against himself at the Golden Globes, where he’s nominated as a leading actor in both movies.
Also up for leading actor in a movie: Ryan Gosling (for Half Nelson), Peter O’Toole (Venus), Will Smith (The Pursuit of Happyness) and Forest Whitaker (The Last King of Scotland).
Leading actress nominees are Penelope Cruz (Volver), Judi Dench (Notes on a Scandal), Helen Mirren (The Queen), Meryl Streep (The Devil Wears Prada) and Kate Winslet (Little Children).
Since the SAG Awards were launched in 1994, they’ve established a strong track record as an Oscar predictor. In the past years, SAG accurately called eight lead actor Academy Award winners, nine lead actress winners and half the supporting actor and actress races, the Los Angeles Times reports.
Up for outstanding movie ensemble are the casts of Babel, Bobby, The Departed, Dreamgirls and Little Miss Sunshine.
For television, best drama ensemble nominees are 24, Boston Legal, Deadwood, Grey’s Anatomy and The Sopranos. Best comedy ensemble nods went to Desperate Housewives, Entourage, The Office, Ugly Betty and Weeds.
Sandra Oh, who stars on Grey’s Anatomy, tells PEOPLE she’s thrilled with the show’s nomination. “I don’t want to put a bias on it, but I think the ensemble awards are kind of the best,” she said Thursday. “To get a great ensemble together, that works well together is really, really hard.”
The SAGs will air live on TNT and TBS on Sunday, Jan. 28, at 8 p.m. ET/PT. PEOPLE and the Entertainment Foundation will sponsor the official SAG Awards Gala after the show.
