Heating up an already warm November day in Miami, Florida, the girls of Victoria’s Secret’s hit the runway for the 2008 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show at the Fontainebleau Hotel last evening.
To kick the show off, R&B singer Usher took the stage before 35 sexy supermodels strutted their stuff in front of a celeb-packed audience at the newly renovated Miami Beach hotel.

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has a very different post-campaign message about her onetime opponent.
Barack Obama, the former GOP vice-presidential candidate told Matt Lauer on Tuesday’s Today show, “did a great job to articulate his ability to usher in change.”
Despite this, Palin initially thought last week’s Presidential election results “would be closer,” were it not for the fact there was an “anti-incumbency sentiment across the country” and “we had the R %26#91;for Republican%26#93; next to our names.”
Even so, as late as election night she thought she and John McCain would be the victors. “I didn’t know,” she said. “I had great faith.”
“All anonymous sources,” she said, also diffusing the argument that she overspent on her wardrobe - a path Palin has been down before. Monday night she told FOX News, “I did not order the clothes, did not ask for the clothes. I would have been happy to have worn my own clothes from Day One.”
She confirmed to Lauer, however, that she had prepared a speech on election night but was not permitted to deliver it. She said that her words spoke of John McCain as a great American hero.
As for any purported tension between Palin and her running mate, as was also reported in the final days of the campaign, Palin countered, “We have a great relationship … had from Day One.”
Asked who might have circulated rumors of a rift between the two, Palin replied, “I honestly do not know, because it’s not true, Matt. I have nothing but admiration for him and his family.”
Even as the campaign wore on, she said, “Never once was there an inkling of tension.” Her relationship with McCain, she said, is “warm, friendly and professional.”
Palin’s husband, “First Dude” Todd Palin, told Lauer that should there be any future campaigns in his wife’s future, he would be along for the ride.
Regarding the effect this last campaign had on her family - included the rumor that her mom-to-be daughter Bristol was being forced to marry boyfriend Levi Johnston under pressure from party handlers - Palin said, “Lots of rumors, lots of speculation. When those darts and arrows started flying, I knew we were on the right path.”

The perks of being the President’s daughters? For Sasha, 7, and Malia, 10, life at the White House is sure to be a wonderland!
Besides the all-weather tennis court on the South Lawn and the grand piano on the second floor, they will have their own pastry shop, swimming pool, bowling alley and movie theater - complete with a popcorn cart.
The White House also comes with a staff of ushers and pastry chefs to ensure birthday parties will never be the same. They plan slumber parties and scavenger hunts that no Supermom can hope to rival.
What’s not to like?
Michelle Obama’s house rules - make your bed, clear the table, set your own alarm clock - perhaps.
“Her rules reign,” retired White House Chief Usher Gary J. Walters says. But, former White House Social Secretary Capricia Marshall, who served under the Clintons, says the girls can expect to be pampered. “When a day hasn’t gone right, the butlers will make sure you have your favorite dessert.”
Then there’s that puppy dad promised. If the girls don’t feel like cleaning up after it, the ushers will make sure it gets walked.

Barely containing his joy over Tuesday’s historic victory of Barack Obama, Usher declared, “I’m speechless, honestly. I don’t even know what to say.”
But, in fact, he had plenty to say.
“Barack Obama doesn’t represent a color. He represents change,” the Grammy-winner, 30, told Access Hollywood shortly after the Democratic candidate’s election was announced.
Crediting the hope that Obama inspired, Usher said, “I think this sets us off in the right direction in terms of change of tone. … The fact that so many people were encouraged by %26#91;his%26#93; words … by his message. It was never self-serving, it was always for country. Country first!”
“Before it was a thought of what happens if he doesn’t win. The public service that went into this and the encouragement that’s come out of it, it’s just incredible to see it happen.”
The musician also revealed he was prepared to uproot himself temporarily had things turned out differently.
“In the event he didn’t win, I gave some thought to leaving the country,” he conceded before happily interjecting that such a drastic measure would not be necessary.
Said Usher, “I’m proud to be an American.”

Oprah Winfrey has long been Barack Obama’s No. 1 fan, so it’s no surprise she wasted little time in speaking out about the Democrat’s historic victory Tuesday night.
“It feels like hope won,” the TV icon told Britain’s BBC. “It feels like there’s a shift in consciousness. It feels like something really big and bold has happened here, like nothing ever in our lifetimes did we expect this to happen.”
The talk-show host was on hand in Chicago to watch Obama’s victory speech, along with Brad Pitt and Jesse Jackson.
Meanwhile, in Los Angeles, Courteney Cox and hubby David Arquette hosted a Barack Obama victory party Tuesday night at their Beverly Hills home, E! Online reports. Jennifer Aniston, Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher were reportedly among the guests.
• Actor George Clooney: “I congratulate President-elect Obama on his historic victory, and now it’s time to begin unifying the country so we can take on the extraordinary challenges that this generation faces.”
• Singer Usher: “This will go down in history, in black history, for all of the sacrifices that the great Joseph Lowery and Martin Luther King made, this actually pays off for their sacrifice. … I’m speechless. I don’t even know what to say.”
• Music mogul Diddy: “I felt like my vote was the vote that put him into office. … And that may not be true but that’s how much power it felt like I had.”
• Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz to PEOPLE: “My parents met working for %26#91;Obama’s running mate on one of his early campaigns%26#93;. If it weren’t for Joe Biden, I would not exist as a human being. … I am proud to be a part of history in the making.”
• Former Secretary of State Colin Powell: “We’re very, very proud to have a new American President who also happens to be African-American … As I watched %26#91;the news anchors call the election%26#93; - pretty moving moment. Everybody cried … I am overjoyed.”

Kicking off their weekend with a casual lunch, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt were spotted dining at Café Vida in the Pacific Palisades on Friday (October 31).
The “Hills” lovers looked to be having a marvelous time as they left the trendy eatery, with Heidi sporting a white shirt underneath a grey sweater jacket with jeans and sandals, while Spencer opted for a grey t-shirt and jeans.
And according to foxnews.com/story/0,2933,446129,00.html target=”_blank”> FOX Pop Tarts’ Hollie McKay, Miss Montag got into a bit of a yelling match with Brent Bolthouse (the nightlife guru who hired Heidi to promote parties) at last week’s Ultimat Vodka Launch Party, held at Hollywood’s The Kress club.
McKay tells that Heidi was “reduced to tears” over the altercation to the point that Spencer got involved, jumping to her defense. Event organizers even had to intervene and usher some guests away from the scene.

Usher is hoping young Americans will be socially active even after election day.
The singer, whose wife Tameka is expecting their second child, released a new song Wednesday called “Hush” that encourages young people to vote and urges them to make a difference after the presidential campaign ends in 13 days.
In “Hush,” available on iTunes, Usher sings about people who complain about high taxes, gas prices and the war in the Middle East - but don’t do anything about it.
“‘Hush’ is about my awakening over the past 10 years to the social issues in our country and realizing that I have a voice,” Usher, 30, said in a statement. “Complaining isn’t enough, you have to also take action.”
A portion of the proceeds from sales of “Hush” will benefit Usher’s New Look Foundation.
